As an ICU RN in this role, you will lead continuous patient surveillance, interpret complex hemodynamics, manage mechanical ventilation, oversee sedation and analgesia plans, administer critical medications, and respond rapidly to deteriorating patients. You’ll participate in care planning rounds, collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, and case managers, and provide clear family communications during challenging moments. You’ll mentor new staff, contribute to evidence-based practice, and pursue ongoing specialty growth such as advanced hemodynamic monitoring, sepsis protocols, or weaning from ventilation.
