This is your opportunity to deploy advanced critical care skills in a high-stakes cardiovascular ICU where every decision matters and every patient has a chance for a remarkable recovery. In this role you’ll work at the forefront of postoperative and critical cardiac care, guiding complex patients through pivotal moments of stabilization, recovery, and renewed hope. You’ll collaborate with skilled teams, sharpen your clinical acumen, and build a reputation as a trusted expert who combines technical precision with compassionate, patient-centered care. Imagine the impact you can make not only in the lives of patients and families but in the ongoing evolution of cardiovascular nursing. California’s coastal climate and welcoming communities set the stage for a rewarding professional rhythm, and San Luis Obispo offers a unique blend of small-town warmth and access to world-class outdoor wonders. Separately, this state’s beauty awaits: the serene shores of Pismo Beach, the volcanic silhouette of Morro Rock, sun-drenched vineyards of Edna Valley and Paso Robles, rolling hills, redwood-scented trails, and a coastline that invites exploration after a demanding shift.

Location Benefits: San Luis Obispo County is renowned for its mild, Mediterranean climate, friendly neighborhoods, and a high quality of life that supports balance between demanding clinical work and restorative personal time. In this assignment you’ll enjoy the advantages of practicing in a cutting-edge CVICU while soaking in ocean breezes, farm-to-table dining, and access to outdoor recreation—from hiking and cycling to scenic coastal drives. Key responsibilities include continuous hemodynamic monitoring, interpretation of arterial and venous pressures, administration and titration of vasoactive infusions, arrhythmia management, ventilation support, and prompt recognition of decompensation. You’ll orchestrate post-operative care for CABG, valve repairs/replacements, ventricular assist devices, and other advanced cardiac therapies, coordinating closely with surgeons, intensivists, respiratory therapists, and perfusionists. The position emphasizes professional growth within CVICU—opportunities to pursue advanced certifications, participate in multidisciplinary rounds, and assume increasing levels of responsibility in patient care planning, discharge readiness, and family education. The compensation package reflects market competitiveness, including a weekly pay range of $739-$767, with a bonus program designed to reward performance and dedication. Housing assistance is provided to ease relocation and housing logistics, and there are extension opportunities for nurses who demonstrate adaptability, leadership, and a passion for CVICU excellence.
