Travel Registered Nurse ER Job
Bakersfield, CA
Contracted
Adventist - Bakersfield
Mid Level
Step into the fast-paced world of Emergency Department nursing as a Travel Registered Nurse (ER) in Bakersfield, California. This is your chance to apply lifesaving skills where every second counts, to mentor junior teammates, and to grow within the dynamic specialty of emergency care. Starting April 13, 2026, you’ll join a team that trusts your clinical judgment and values your voice in decisions that impact patients and families. As you answer the call to care, imagine weekend escapes to California’s landscapes—from the rolling grape valleys to the foothills and distant mountains—where the state’s beauty fuels resilience and purpose.
Working in Bakersfield places you in a thriving medical community within California’s Central Valley, a city known for its welcoming neighborhoods and affordable living. You’ll experience the energy of a city expanding its healthcare footprint, with access to advanced facilities, educational partnerships, and strong support for travel clinicians. The position also offers the flexibility to work at facilities across the United States, broadening your exposure to diverse patient populations, trauma protocols, and hospital systems. Beyond work, you can explore the Sierra Nevada foothills, nearby national parks, vineyards, and a climate that invites outdoor adventures after shifts. This is a role where the location becomes part of your professional and personal growth story, with opportunities to immerse yourself in California comfort and occasional cross-site experiences that broaden your professional network.
In this ER RN role, you’ll be the captain of rapid assessment, triage, and critical decision-making under pressure. You’ll monitor patient status, interpret ECGs and labs, administer medications and life-saving interventions, and coordinate care with physicians, nurse practitioners, and allied health teams. Your clinical intuition will be sharpened by high-acuity cases, trauma responses, and coded events, while you guide families with clear, compassionate communication. The position offers a clear path for professional growth within emergency nursing—opportunities to expand scope, take on charge responsibilities, mentor new grads, and engage in targeted continuing education that keeps you current with advances in trauma and critical care. In addition to competitive compensation, this assignment includes a sign-on or completion bonus where applicable, housing assistance to ease transition, and the potential for contract extensions that align with your career plan. You’ll appreciate a support framework designed for travelers: 24/7 assistance from our travel team, dedicated clinical leads, and on-site resources to ensure you’re never navigating a shift alone. Although guaranteed hours are not specified for every contract, there are structured scheduling windows and clear extension options to help you plan ahead and maximize your time on assignment while honoring your personal needs.
At the core, our partner organization is committed to empowering staff—providing the tools, mentorship, and environment you need to advance your career while delivering compassionate patient care. We foster a culture of teamwork, ongoing education, recognition of clinical excellence, and a supportive, inclusive atmosphere where your professional voice matters. We believe in rewarding dedication with opportunities to grow within the specialty, to expand into leadership roles, or to pursue cross-site experiences that deepen your expertise and broaden your impact.
