Powerback - Contract - Newport News Nursing -R02A05
Mid Level
Step into a mission-filled role as a Travel Physical Therapy Assistant in Virginia and beyond, where every patient interaction helps restore independence and confidence. As a PTA, you’ll work under licensed PT supervision to implement treatment plans, guide therapeutic exercises, assist with modalities, monitor progress, and educate patients and families. Your hands-on expertise will translate into real-world impact—whether helping a recovering joint regain range of motion, supporting gait training after surgery, or guiding a home exercise program that accelerates healing. This is more than a job; it’s a chance to apply clinical skill in diverse settings, learn innovative techniques, and grow your professional confidence with every assignment. You’ll join a network that values your expertise, your compassion, and your drive to continuously improve patient outcomes. And to celebrate the beauty of the state you’ll call home, Virginia offers a tapestry of landscapes—from the rolling Blue Ridge mountains to the serene shores of the Atlantic, from historic Tidewater towns to the dynamic Richmond corridor. Beyond the boardwalks and bays, you’ll discover vibrant communities, outdoor adventures, and a blend of history and modern living that makes every weekend feel like a new discovery.

Location Benefits: Newport News, VA sits at the heart of the Hampton Roads region, where you’ll find a welcoming healthcare setting that blends clinical variety with a supportive, close-knit community. The opportunity to serve in Virginia’s healthcare network means meaningful patient contact, collaborative teams, and getting to know a region famous for its maritime heritage, museums, and waterfront charm. And because this role is part of a national travel program, you’ll also have the chance to work across other U.S. locations, expanding your clinical repertoire and expanding your professional network. Coastal living, abundant outdoor activities, and easy access to historic sites like Colonial Williamsburg, the Virginia Beach boardwalk, and the serene shores of the Chesapeake Bay provide a rich backdrop for your travel experience while maintaining a strong focus on your clinical development.

Role Specifics and Benefits: As a PTA in this travel assignment, you’ll support PTAs with patient evaluation under supervision, implement targeted therapeutic exercises, prepare and apply modalities such as manual techniques and equipment, monitor patient responses, and document outcomes to inform the plan of care. You’ll assist with transfers, gait and balance training, strengthening, ROM enhancement, post-operative rehabilitation, and patient education for home exercise programs. You’ll be part of interdisciplinary teams, contributing to discharge planning and ensuring smooth transitions for patients as they return to daily life. This position offers competitive compensation with a weekly rate ranging from $1,391 to $1,479, reflecting location and assignment specifics, and is paired with a signing incentive in many cases. Housing assistance is available to ease relocation or temporary housing needs, plus the potential for contract extensions based on performance and facility need. You’ll enjoy guaranteed hours of 35 per week with scheduling flexibility designed to align with patient needs and site requirements. The start date is 02/23/2026, and contract duration is measured in weeks, with opportunities for extension if you excel in your role and the facility requires additional coverage. You’ll have 24/7 support from our dedicated travel team, ready to assist with credentialing, orientations, travel logistics, and on-site needs so you always have a partner by your side on every assignment.

Company Values: Our organization is grounded in empowering staff, advancing careers, and cultivating a supportive environment where your professional goals are heard and nurtured. We champion ongoing education, mentorship, and clear pathways to enhanced practice, leadership roles, and cross-site experiences that broaden your clinical horizon. You’ll find a culture that respects your contributions, values work–life balance, and prioritizes patient-centered care delivered through compassionate, evidence-based practice. By joining our team, you’re joining a community that believes in your growth, celebrates your successes, and stands by you as you build a durable, meaningful PTA career.
