Step into a pivotal role as a Medical Laboratory Technician in Bethel, Alaska, where your precision and compassion directly support remote communities that rely on accurate, timely lab results. In this assignment, you’ll enable clinicians to deliver life-changing care in challenging environments, answering the needs of patients and families that depend on your expertise. From the moment you arrive, you’ll be welcomed into a tightly knit region where resilience and warmth go hand in hand, and where your work helps keep the chain of care intact across rural Alaska. Beyond the lab, Alaska offers extraordinary splendor: expansive coastlines, expansive skies, and the shimmering northern lights in season, with endless opportunities to explore vast wilderness in your downtime. The beauty of Bethel and its surrounding landscapes invites you to recharge after hands-on shifts, while your professional impact grows with every sample you process.
Working in Bethel means you’ll contribute to a community that values science, health, and connection. You’ll have access to opportunities to rotate through related facilities and, when assignments allow, the possibility to work in nearby locations across Alaska or even other U.S. sites through extended programs. This is a chance to immerse yourself in a unique cultural landscape, where Alaska’s rugged charm meets a shared commitment to quality care. You’ll discover that the experience here strengthens not only your technical acumen but your adaptability, teamwork, and leadership skills, all while earning a competitive compensation package and benefiting from robust support that keeps you moving forward. For professionals seeking growth, the program offers pathways to broaden scope, expand expertise in hematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, and blood bank operations, and to collaborate with experienced colleagues who share your dedication to accuracy and patient outcomes.
In this role, you’ll contribute to essential laboratory operations with responsibility for high-complexity testing and accurate reporting. Your day-to-day duties may include specimen handling, processing, and analysis across chemistry, hematology, coagulation, and microbiology disciplines, ensuring assay performance, quality control, and instrument maintenance align with CLIA and CAP standards. You’ll interpret results, document deviations, and communicate findings to clinicians in a timely, clear manner. You’ll participate in error-prevention initiatives, participate in proficiency testing, and mentor junior staff when opportunities arise. The position supports professional growth by offering cross-training, exposure to diverse instruments, and the chance to deepen your understanding of lab workflows in a rural healthcare setting. You’ll join a team that values accuracy, efficiency, and patient-centered care, delivering dependable results that influence diagnoses and treatment plans even in remote environments.
Our benefits are designed to reflect the full scope of your commitment. The assignment provides weekly pay in the range of $1,745 to $1,827, with guaranteed hours set at 32.0 per week, supporting financial stability as you navigate extended shifts and possible travel within Alaska. The start date is 03/10/2026, and assignments run for a number of weeks with extension opportunities should you and the program align on continuing needs. In addition to competitive compensation, you’ll receive housing assistance and a completion bonus designed to recognize your dedication and success in this demanding but immensely rewarding placement. You’ll also have access to ongoing extension options that let you lengthen your time with the program if you wish to stay longer and deepen your expertise. Throughout your travels, you’ll receive 24/7 support from a dedicated team that stands ready to assist you with scheduling, logistics, and clinical questions, ensuring you feel secure and supported every step of the way.
