San Luis Obispo, CA
Contracted
Adventist Health Sierra Vista - Westways
Mid Level
Step into a pivotal role as a Medical Technologist in the Laboratory, where your precise work translates into better patient care every day. This weeks-long assignment, beginning March 16, 2026, invites you to apply your expertise across core laboratory disciplines, delivering accurate results with speed and integrity. In this position you’ll influence diagnoses, guide treatment decisions, and uphold the highest standards of clinical laboratory science. You’ll be part of a collaborative, patient-focused team in California’s Central Coast, a region famed for its scenic coastline, agricultural richness, and a welcoming community. The San Luis Obispo area offers a balanced blend of outdoor adventure and modern amenities, making it a place where professional purpose and personal well-being go hand in hand. And for those who love to explore, state parks, world-class dining, and nearby attractions—from rugged coastlines to charming towns—are never far away.
Working in San Luis Obispo means more than a job; it’s an opportunity to immerse yourself in a thriving laboratory culture within a town known for quality of life and a strong healthcare ecosystem. You’ll enjoy modern facilities, access to continued education, and close collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other laboratorians who value precise, timely data. The region’s temperate climate and laid-back spirit support sustainable work-life balance, while the broader U.S. travel option connected to this role can expand your professional network and exposure to diverse practice settings. If you choose to travel to other locations, you’ll gain firsthand experience with different instrumentation, protocols, and patient populations—experiences that sharpen expertise and enhance marketability. The assignment’s travel component offers you the chance to cultivate adaptability, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and a broader perspective on laboratory medicine that strengthens your long-term career trajectory.
Your day-to-day responsibilities include performing high-complexity testing across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and other core disciplines, while ensuring accuracy, precision, and timely reporting of results. You will operate and maintain automated analyzers, troubleshoot instrument issues, and implement quality control and quality assurance measures under CLIA, CAP, HIPAA, and institutional guidelines. You’ll document all results, review clinician requests, and communicate findings clearly to care teams. You’ll participate in assay validation, instrument calibration, and method verification, contributing to process improvements and standardization. As a growth-minded professional, you’ll have opportunities to advance to senior technologist roles, lead technician positions, or lab operations projects, expanding your scope beyond routine testing. The role also emphasizes the value of your contributions through competitive benefits: a weekly pay range of $1,636 to $1,739, plus a bonus where applicable, housing assistance to ease relocation, and extension opportunities that let you tailor your assignment length to your career goals. You’ll receive comprehensive support from a dedicated travel team, including 24/7 assistance as you navigate assignments across locations, ensuring you’re never alone on the road or in the lab. In addition, you’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and participate in ongoing competency development, ensuring you stay at the forefront of laboratory practice and patient care.
At the core, the company is committed to empowering its staff—fostering a culture of professional development, mentorship, and collaborative problem solving. You’ll find a supportive environment that prioritizes your growth, recognizes your expertise, and helps you build a resilient career in healthcare technology. We believe in giving you autonomy within a framework of quality and safety, with resources to pursue continuing education and leadership competencies that align with your ambitions.
