Travel OR Tech Job
Herrin, IL
Contracted
Herrin Hospital (HH)
Mid Level
Embark on a critical, life-affirming journey as an OR Tech with a dedicated traveling program designed to elevate patient care in operating rooms across renowned facilities. In this role you’ll be a pivotal member of the surgical team, scrubbing in with precision, maintaining sterile technique, and ensuring a seamless flow of instruments and supplies from start to finish of every procedure. Your hands-on expertise will support surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia teams, directly contributing to patient safety, efficiency, and outcomes that matter. This particular opportunity places you in Herrin, Illinois, a community where the warmth of small-town living meets the excitement of a broader professional path—an ideal setting to build skills, confidence, and lasting professional relationships. And while Herrin offers its own charms, the experience also opens doors to assignments across the United States, letting you blend meaningful work with the adventure of travel. Picture yourself enjoying quiet evenings in a historic town, savoring local dining, and exploring nearby natural beauty after a rewarding day in the OR. Illinois’ diverse landscapes—from rolling hills and sparkling rivers to accessible urban hubs—invite you to unwind and recharge, enriching your personal life as you advance your clinical expertise.
Herrin represents a compelling entry point into a network of facilities that value surgical teamwork and meticulous practice. Working here means joining a community that understands the demands of modern operating rooms and the importance of dependable support for the whole team. The location offers a balance of affordable living, accessible amenities, and a sense of belonging, with quick drives to major centers if you crave broader cultural experiences. If you’re drawn to exploration beyond a single site, this role also provides the chance to work in varied settings across the U.S., gaining exposure to diverse patient populations, equipment, and case mixes. You’ll benefit from the stability and predictability of a guaranteed 36 hours per week and the competitive compensation structure designed to acknowledge your expertise, reliability, and adaptability. The opportunity to travel between facilities allows you to refine your surgical asepsis skills, broaden your knowledge of implant options and instrumentation, and cultivate professional relationships that translate into long-term advancement.
In this OR Tech position, your core responsibilities will center on preparing the surgical suite and supporting the team through every step of the procedure. You’ll set up the sterile field, hand instruments, count *sponges, needles, and devices*, and verify that implants and supplies are readily available. You’ll scrub in, maintain patient safety, assist with positioning, and ensure accurate handling of specimens and documentation under the direction of the surgical staff. You’ll collaborate with perioperative nurses to manage inventory, transport equipment, and troubleshoot equipment issues to prevent delays. The role also provides avenues for growth: you may pursue cross-training in specialized services, participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives, and engage in continuing education opportunities that expand your scope within the OR discipline. The program recognizes your potential to grow into more advanced roles across perioperative services, with clear pathways and ongoing mentorship. To complement clinical development, you’ll receive a bonus opportunity and housing assistance, plus the chance for contract extensions—benefits designed to reward consistency, initiative, and a commitment to excellence.
Crucially, you’ll receive unwavering support designed to make every assignment smooth and sustainable. A dedicated travel coordinator and 24/7 support team stand ready to assist with onboarding, housing logistics, shift changes, and any on-site needs that arise while you’re in transit between facilities. This comprehensive support framework ensures you can focus on clinical excellence and patient-centered care, knowing you have reliable guidance and resources whenever you need them. The traveling program also emphasizes safety, compliance, and work-life balance, with orientation processes, robust safety protocols, and access to resources that help you adjust rapidly to new teams, to different facility cultures, and to varying electronic medical record systems. You’ll operate within a culture that values your contributions, recognizes your reliability, and offers you the stability you need to perform at your best.
Our company is grounded in empowering staff, prioritizing career advancement and a supportive work environment. We believe in recognizing talent, investing in skill development, and fostering an inclusive culture where every team member can grow both technically and professionally. The mission is to enable you to reach your highest potential while delivering exceptional patient care, and to sustain a work environment that respects your well-being, professional aspirations, and personal commitments. You’ll find a collaborative, respectful atmosphere, regular opportunities for feedback, and leadership that is genuinely invested in your success—alongside competitive compensation, bonus opportunities, housing assistance, and potential extension options that reinforce your long-term value to the network.
Seize this chance to join a program that values your expertise, rewards your dedication, and supports your growth across a spectrum of surgical settings. If you’re ready to make a meaningful impact while exploring new places, take the next step and apply. Begin your journey on 03/16/2026 with a multi-week assignment that offers 36 guaranteed hours per week and weekly pay ranging from $2,040 to $2,133, complemented by a housing allowance and a potential for contract extension.
