Travel Registered Nurse Med Surg Job

Machias, ME
Contracted
Down East Community Hospital
Mid Level
Embark on a challenging and rewarding journey as a Registered Nurse in Med Surg, where your clinical expertise and compassionate care can transform patient outcomes every day. In Machias, Maine, you’ll bring skilled, evidence-based practice to a setting that honors dignity, resilience, and personal connection. This traveling opportunity begins on 03/24/2026 and is designed for multiple weeks across a network of facilities, offering a pathway to broaden your skills, expand your professional network, and leave a lasting imprint on the communities you serve. Beyond the hospital walls, Maine reveals its natural beauty—coastal coves, rugged shoreline, pristine forests, and seasonal charm—that invites you to recharge and reflect after meaningful days at the bedside.

Machias presents a unique blend of small-town warmth and professional opportunity. You’ll enjoy the appeal of working in a close-knit community while having access to modern resources and collaborative teams. The chance to operate in various locations across the United States throughout your contract adds depth to your nursing experience, exposing you to diverse patient populations, hospital cultures, and clinical challenges. Whether you’re drawn to coastal Maine’s serene landscape or the fast pace of other urban and rural facilities, you’ll find opportunities that continuously sharpen your Med Surg competencies and expand your repertoire.

In this role, you’ll manage a wide range of Med Surg patients, from post-operative to complex medical cases, with duties that include comprehensive assessments, monitoring and responding to changing conditions, accurate medication administration, wound and drain care, IV therapy, and implementation of care plans aligned with physician orders. You’ll participate in discharge planning, patient education, and family communication to ensure smooth transitions home. Collaboration is at the heart of the position: you’ll work with physicians, therapists, and social workers to coordinate care, advocate for patient preferences, and uphold best practices in safety and hygiene. The position offers substantial room for professional growth—from refining rapid assessment and critical thinking to taking on leadership opportunities within your unit as you gain experience. Benefits are designed to support you as you advance, including a competitive pay range, a sign-on bonus option, housing assistance, and the potential for contract extensions to deepen your clinical impact.

We recognize that a nurse’s career is built on more than clinical skill alone. Our program provides robust support designed for traveling clinicians: 24/7 assistance from a dedicated support team, accessibility to resources that help you navigate assignments smoothly, and tools to ensure you feel secure and empowered on the road. You’ll have access to resources for housing and relocation logistics, as well as opportunities to extend assignments and explore additional specialty rotations if you choose. The combination of competitive weekly pay—ranging from $1,899 to $1,970—plus the potential for supplemental bonuses and extensions, makes this an attractive pathway for serious Med Surg professionals seeking variety and challenge without sacrificing stability.

Our company values your contributions and your growth. We are committed to empowering our nurses with meaningful career development and a supportive work environment that fosters continued learning, mentorship, and advancement. You’ll join a culture that respects expertise, encourages initiative, and prioritizes teamwork, well-being, and professional dignity. The mission is to help you thrive as you care for patients and families during some of their most vulnerable moments, while also building the resilience and leadership skills that propel your nursing career forward.

If you’re ready to elevate your Med Surg practice, to work with purpose, and to experience new places while delivering exceptional care, apply now. This is more than a job—it’s an opportunity to join a company that values your knowledge, respects your professionalism, and supports your ongoing development as a nurse and a leader.
