Salida, CO

Heart of the Rockies Medical
Mid Level
Step into an impactful ICU RN role in Salida, Colorado, where your clinical expertise supports critically ill patients at their most vulnerable moments. As a traveling ICU registered nurse, you’ll deliver high-acuity care across demanding, fast-paced environments, guiding care teams and families with compassion, precision, and leadership. This assignment is designed for professionals who want to influence outcomes, continually sharpen their critical thinking under pressure, and expand their specialty with every patient you touch. In addition to the chance to make a meaningful difference, Colorado’s breathtaking landscapes invite you to balance demanding shifts with remarkable natural beauty. Salida sits along the Arkansas River in central Colorado, a true mountain town with a welcoming downtown, access to outdoor adventures, and a rich cultural scene. From the surrounding peaks to the Arkansas River trails, you’ll find opportunities for weekend exploration, photography, hiking, and river runs that refresh the mind and renew your focus for the next shift. Colorado’s diverse clinical settings—ranging from community hospitals to larger regional centers—offer you the chance to broaden your ICU repertoire while maintaining the supportive culture you deserve. This role gives you the flexibility to work in Salida while also exploring other Colorado communities and, when desired, additional locations across the U.S., enriching your professional portfolio and personal experiences.

Location benefits extend beyond the hospital walls. Salida provides a friendly, family-oriented atmosphere with a vibrant arts scene, locally owned eateries, and a strong sense of community pride. You’ll be part of a travel nursing program that values your time, respects your expertise, and makes you feel at home with housing support and a streamlined onboarding process. The region’s accessibility makes it easy to chase outdoor adventures during days off—whether you’re mountain biking along scenic byways, fishing along the river, or simply enjoying sunset views over the peaks. And if you seek broader geographic exposure, our program can connect you with assignments across Colorado and other U.S. locations, expanding your resume with varied ICU experiences and patient populations.

Role specifics and benefits
- Role responsibilities: As a traveling ICU RN, you’ll provide round-the-clock critical care for adult and, when applicable, geriatric ICU patients. Duties include ventilator management and weaning under physician orders, invasive and noninvasive monitoring (arterial lines, central lines, hemodynamic monitoring), vasoactive and sedation management, rapid assessment and escalation of changes in patient status, meticulous administration of complex medication regimens, wound care and dressings, infection control practices, and meticulous documentation in the electronic medical record. You’ll collaborate closely with intensivists, physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and bedside teams to develop and implement individualized care plans, while also communicating clearly with patients’ families about prognosis, goals of care, and discharge planning. You’ll have opportunities to mentor less experienced staff and participate in unit-based quality improvement efforts to advance patient outcomes and safety.
- Professional growth: This assignment is designed for ICU nurses seeking to deepen critical care expertise. You’ll have access to additional clinical education, credentialing support, and hands-on opportunities to refine skills across ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, CPR/Code Team participation, and complex sedation protocols. The program encourages pursuing ICUs certifications (e.g., CCRN) and offers guidance, reimbursement pathways, and time for study. With each extension, you’ll broaden your exposure to varied ICU populations and care models, reinforcing your leadership potential and marketability as a critical care professional.
- Competitive benefits: You’ll receive a competitive weekly pay range of $2,037–$2,085, with guaranteed hours of 36.0 per week. The program includes a signing or performance bonus, housing assistance to reduce living costs and simplify relocation, and extension opportunities that let you continue in high-demand assignments if you choose. Optional stipends or resources to cover travel, meals, and incidental expenses may also be available, depending on the assignment specifics. Our goal is to ensure you’re supported financially, professionally, and personally as you focus on delivering exceptional ICU care.
- Comprehensive support: You’re never alone on the road. Our travel program provides 24/7 support from a dedicated clinical liaison and travel team. You’ll have ongoing access to staffing coordinators, credentialing specialists, and a clinician-on-call line to address questions, troubleshoot scheduling, and assist with any on-site challenges. This robust safety net helps you navigate clinical environments confidently while you focus on patient care and personal well-being.
