Grand Rapids, MI
Contracted
Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services
Mid Level
Embark on a purpose-driven journey as a Registered Nurse specializing in Behavioral Health and Psychiatric care, with a dynamic travel assignment that puts you at the forefront of compassionate, evidence-based mental health support. In this role you will partner with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to stabilize crises, implement therapeutic interventions, and guide recovery in a setting that values dignity, autonomy, and ongoing growth. Your expertise will illuminate pathways from agitation to safety, from distress to hope, and your presence will empower individuals to reclaim their lives with resilience. This is more than frontline care; it is a chance to shape outcomes, honor patient stories, and contribute to a community renowned for its Midwest warmth. Michigan’s beauty complements your professional journey: from sun-dappled shorelines along Lake Michigan to wind-swept forests in the northern regions, the state invites adventure and reflection. In Grand Rapids, you’ll discover a vibrant cultural scene, craft breweries, galleries, parks, and a growing healthcare ecosystem that supports innovation and collaboration. When you’re off duty, you’ll have access to lakeside trails, urban parks, and a thriving dining and arts scene that makes winding down as rewarding as the day’s work.

Location benefits extend beyond Grand Rapids, with opportunities to work in varied locations across the United States, broadening your clinical exposure and expanding your professional network. This flexibility means you can tailor experiences to your interests—whether you’re drawn to bustling metropolitan environments, serene suburban settings, or communities that emphasize integrative care and patient-centered outcomes. The arrangement is designed to leverage the strengths of behavioral health nursing—rapid assessment, therapeutic communication, crisis intervention, and coordinated care planning—while offering immersive experiences in diverse programs and populations. Michigan location perks include thriving healthcare networks, access to continuing education, mentorship from experienced psychiatric teams, and a supportive community that values your work-life balance as part of your professional vitality.

Role specifics and benefits: as a Behavioral Health/Psychiatric RN, you will perform comprehensive mental health assessments, monitor and manage patient safety, administer medications per physician orders and protocols, and participate in crisis stabilization, de-escalation, and safety planning. You will craft individualized care plans in collaboration with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and occupational therapists, while documenting clinical observations, responses to treatment, and progress toward goals. You’ll engage in family education, discharge planning, and post-discharge follow-up coordination to reduce relapse risk and support continuity of care. You will lead therapeutic groups and one-on-one interactions that promote coping strategies, sleep hygiene, and relapse prevention, while applying trauma-informed care principles and cultural humility in every encounter. The position encourages ongoing professional growth through exposure to a broad spectrum of psychiatric conditions, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychosis, substance use comorbidity, and geriatric mental health, enabling you to deepen assessment skills, refine crisis intervention techniques, and expand leadership capabilities within the care team.

Compelling benefits accompany the role. You will receive competitive weekly pay ranging from $1,672 to $1,778, with guaranteed hours of 36 per week, providing stability in a travel setting. The program includes housing assistance to ease transitioning between assignments and reduce living costs, plus a bonus component designed to recognize your commitment and exceptional performance. Extension opportunities are available, allowing you to prolong your impact and continue advancing along a defined career path within the organization. You will operate with comprehensive support from a dedicated travel support team 24/7, ensuring you never face a clinical question, logistical hurdle, or personal concern alone while you’re on the road. The role also encompasses professional development resources, mentorship from seasoned behavioral health leaders, and structured opportunities to pursue specialty certifications and advanced practice skills within a supportive framework.

Company values emphasize empowering its staff, prioritizing career advancement, and cultivating a collaborative, respectful work environment. You’ll join a culture that values your voice, recognizes your expertise, and invests in your long-term trajectory through continuous learning, constructive feedback, and clear pathways to leadership roles. Whether you’re refining evidence-based psychiatric interventions, contributing to quality improvement initiatives, or mentoring colleagues new to the field, you’ll find a workplace that respects your dedication and strives to accelerate your growth in meaningful, measurable ways. The combination of robust clinical exposure, generous benefits, and a people-centric ethos makes this a compelling fit for a nurse who seeks both impact and advancement.
