Role specifics and benefits: As a Cath Lab RN, you’ll lead and support high-stakes interventional procedures, collaborating closely with cardiologists, technologists, and multidisciplinary teams. Core responsibilities include patient pre-procedure assessment, hemodynamic monitoring during PCI, device management, and ensuring sterile technique and equipment readiness. You’ll assist with catheters, wires, sheaths, and adjunct devices, monitor contrast usage and patient responses, manage anticoagulation strategies, and document precisely in the patient record. Post-procedure care involves recovery area coordination, hemodynamic checks, and clear discharge instructions. Your role also encompasses quality improvement activities, safety checks, and adherence to evolving interventional protocols. There is significant potential for professional growth, from mastering complex cath lab workflows to expanding into electrophysiology, CTO interventions, or advanced hemodynamic planning, depending on site capabilities and program needs.
