Role specifics and benefits:
- Core responsibilities: You will lead the decontamination, disassembly, cleaning, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and sterile storage of instruments and equipment. You’ll manage tray setup, instrument counting, and validation of sterilization cycles, ensuring compliance with AAMI/ANSI standards, OSHA regulations, and hospital policies. You’ll document instrument use, maintain accurate traceability, perform routine equipment maintenance, and collaborate closely with surgical services and OR teams to anticipate instrument needs, minimize instrument turnaround times, and uphold sterile integrity throughout the patient care cycle.
- Professional growth: This assignment is designed to advance your specialty expertise, with access to certification support (CRST/CSPDT pathways as applicable), cross-training in instrument processing technologies, and opportunities to take on lead or educator roles within the sterile processing department as you gain experience.
