San Luis Obispo, CA
Contracted
Adventist Health- Sierra Vista
Mid Level
Step into a pivotal role as a Travel Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery, delivering expert, compassionate care to mothers and newborns while you explore California’s Central Coast and opportunities across the U.S. In this specialty, your skill and empathy shape families at one of life’s most meaningful moments, and your impact resonates with every birth you oversee. Picture guiding expectant families through labor with confidence, collaborating with a dedicated obstetric team, and sharing in the joy of new beginnings. The San Luis Obispo region blends a relaxed coastal vibe with scenic hills, thriving local culture, and outdoor adventures—from Morro Bay’s tranquil shoreline to Pismo Beach sunsets—making every assignment a rewarding lifestyle experience. And with assignments across numerous U.S. locations, you can expand your clinical repertoire, adapt to different hospital environments, and build a diverse professional portfolio while advancing your L&D expertise.

Working in San Luis Obispo County offers a supportive medical community and access to state‑of‑the‑art birthing suites, lactation services, and family‑centered care that prioritizes safety, comfort, and education. The area’s temperate climate invites outdoor exploration—beaches, hiking trails, wineries, and coastal towns are within easy reach—contributing to a balanced routine that sustains you both professionally and personally. For our travelers, the opportunity to rotate through various U.S. sites means exposure to a spectrum of patient populations, care models, and team dynamics. You’ll gain insights that sharpen clinical judgment and enrich your ability to advocate for moms and babies in diverse settings, from high‑volume urban centers to smaller community hospitals.

As a Travel RN in Labor & Delivery, you’ll sit at the heart of maternal‑child care, coordinating with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesia teams, nurses, and newborn specialists. Core responsibilities include monitoring labor progress, fetal heart rate tracing, cervical assessments, recognizing distress, and assisting with vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections. You’ll guide analgesia and anesthesia turnover, oversee postpartum and newborn care, and provide lactation support and comprehensive birth education. Your role also encompasses precise documentation, patient safety, and effective handoffs to multidisciplinary teams. You may participate in on‑call rotations, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and contribute to initiatives that elevate patient experience and outcomes.

Growth and benefits accompany your daily impact. You’ll have ample opportunities to advance into charge nurse or clinical lead roles, serve as a preceptor for new traveling clinicians, and pursue specialty certifications or continuing education that align with your career goals. Competitive compensation includes weekly pay in the range of $3,534 to $3,569, with housing assistance to ease transitions to new locales and options for contract extensions that align with your plans. Additional rewards may include a travel bonus, completion bonuses where applicable, and robust 24/7 support from our dedicated travel services team to ensure you’re never alone on assignment. We also provide access to comprehensive health coverage during travel and resources designed to help you maintain work‑life balance while delivering exceptional care.

Our company values empower you to grow in a supportive, respectful environment. We’re committed to investing in your development, recognizing your strengths, and offering mentorship and resources that propel your career forward. The culture prioritizes collaboration, clinical excellence, and the well‑being of staff, so you can build a meaningful practice while feeling valued every day. You’ll join a network of healthcare professionals who share a passion for improving outcomes for mothers and babies and who understand the importance of a positive, thriving workplace.
