Embark on a transformative travel nursing opportunity as a Registered Nurse specializing in the NICU, based in the scenic California coastline of San Luis Obispo. This weeks-long assignment begins on February 23, 2026 and offers you the chance to deliver life-saving neonatal care while expanding your expertise in a dynamic, supportive environment. Picture yourself practicing advanced NICU nursing amid the breezes from the Pacific, where emerald hills meet golden sunsets, and everyday life blends with outdoor adventures, local charm, and a robust healthcare community. This is more than a job—it's a chance to shape futures, mentor teammates, and elevate your professional journey in one of California’s most beloved coastal destinations.
Location Benefits:
San Luis Obispo and the Central Coast offer a balanced lifestyle that blends professional excellence with natural beauty. Expect a mild climate, access to pristine beaches, breathtaking coastal trails, and a vibrant downtown scene with farm-to-table dining, arts, and year-round events. The region supports a healthy work-life balance, making it ideal for clinicians who value time with family and a chance to recharge after demanding shifts. For those seeking variety, there are opportunities to work across other U.S. locations through our network, allowing you to broaden your clinical experience, encounter diverse NICU protocols, and build a versatile resume while staying connected to a supportive travel team. Whether you’re drawn to scenic coastal communities, wine country explorations, or weekend escapes to nearby cities, you’ll find inspiration here while delivering expert neonatal care.
Role Specifics and Benefits:
As a NICU-focused Registered Nurse, you’ll play a pivotal role in the continuum of newborn care, collaborating with neonatologists, advanced practice providers, nurses, and support staff to ensure the highest standards of safety and compassion. Key responsibilities include evidence-based newborn stabilization, monitoring and interpreting infant vitals, managing respiratory support and IV therapies, assisting with complex procedures, coordinating family education, and facilitating smooth transitions from hospital to home. You’ll contribute to comprehensive care plans, participate in rounds, update care documentation, and advocate for each infant’s developmental needs and family involvement.
This opportunity emphasizes professional growth within the NICU specialty. You’ll gain exposure to a range of neonatal cases, including preterm infants, respiratory challenges, and evolving treatment modalities, while receiving mentorship from seasoned NICU teams. The contract encourages continued education and specialty development, with support for certifications, skill-building workshops, and cross-department collaboration that broadens your clinical perspective.
Competitive benefits are a cornerstone of this role. Expect a competitive weekly pay range of $1,936–$2,129, with a sign-on bonus and comprehensive housing assistance to ease relocation and lodging during the assignment. Extended opportunities may be available as contracts renew or extend, enabling you to deepen your NICU expertise and establish enduring professional relationships within our network. In addition, you’ll receive robust, around-the-clock support from our dedicated team; travel can be complex, but you’ll have 24/7 assistance to address scheduling changes, emergencies, or housing concerns, ensuring you feel secure and supported every step of the way. Note that while the stated duration is weeks, the path to ongoing contracts and future assignments is clearly outlined with clear communication, timely onboarding, and reliable project management.
Company Values:
