This travel assignment places you at the heart of mental health care, supporting individuals across diverse diagnoses and treatment settings while expanding your expertise in psych nursing. You’ll work with an interdisciplinary team dedicated to person-centered care, de-escalation, trauma-informed practices, and recovery-oriented outcomes. Start date 02/01/2026, with a defined duration of weeks, guaranteed 36 hours per week, and competitive weekly pay ranging from $2,041 to $2,078, with opportunities to extend. You’ll be empowered to apply evidence-based interventions, advocate for patients’ rights, and refine your clinical judgment in a fast-paced yet supportive environment.
Helena and the surrounding Montana regions offer a blend of outdoor adventure and cultural charm that makes every assignment feel like a renewal. In Helena, you can enjoy a vibrant downtown full of history, local events, and community connection after shifts, while the state’s majestic landscapes invite you to unwind on hikes, by rivers, or in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains. Montana’s wide-open skies, pristine trails, and dramatic scenery—notably the Beartooth and Mission mountain ranges, the Gates of the Mountains, and countless forests and lakes—provide restorative backdrops for a balanced professional and personal life. Beyond Helena, the assignment opens doors to working in various locations across the U.S., expanding your clinical exposure to different treatment modalities, patient populations, and care settings, all while maintaining the security of a structured travel program and robust support networks.
In this role, you’ll assess and monitor psychiatric inpatients and outpatients, perform crisis interventions, administer psychotropic medications within approved protocols, conduct suicide risk and safety assessments, and implement individualized treatment plans. You’ll facilitate both individual and group therapies, contribute to multidisciplinary rounds, and coordinate discharge planning with families, community resources, and outpatient teams. Documentation will be thorough and timely in the EHR, with emphasis on continuity of care, risk mitigation, and evidence-based outcomes. You’ll collaborate closely with psychiatrists, social workers, case managers, and therapy staff to adjust treatment plans as patients progress toward stabilization and recovery. The position offers clear pathways for professional growth within the psychiatric specialty, including expanding competencies in mood disorders, psychotic disorders, dual diagnosis, trauma-informed care, and crisis stabilization. You’ll have access to continuing education opportunities, on-site trainings, and mentorship designed to elevate your practice and prepare you for advanced roles when you’re ready. The arrangement includes a comprehensive benefits package featuring a sign-on bonus, housing assistance, and the potential for contract extensions that allow you to deepen your impact with diverse patient groups and care environments. In addition, you’ll never travel alone; a dedicated 24/7 support team is available to assist with clinical questions, safety concerns, and logistical needs, ensuring you feel supported around the clock while you’re on assignment.
