Key responsibilities
- Provide expert nursing care in the OR, including preoperative assessments, sterile setup, instrument handling, and adherence to universal precautions.
- Assist in all phases of the surgical procedure as a circulating and/or scrub nurse, maintaining instrument counts, hemodynamic monitoring, and meticulous documentation.
- Partner with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and perioperative teams to ensure patient safety, optimal positioning, and timely turnover between cases.
- Uphold infection prevention standards, manage equipment readiness, troubleshoot apparatus, and support rapid response to intraoperative changes.
- Deliver patient- and family-centered perioperative education, while maintaining composure, focus, and clear communication in high-stakes environments.
