This is your chance to bring compassionate, evidence-based obstetric care to birthing families while expanding your professional horizons in a vibrant coastal community. In L&D you’ll partner with physicians, midwives, and ancillary teams to support labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum care, guiding families through some of life’s most meaningful moments. You’ll employ skilled assessment, fetal surveillance, timely interventions, and patient education that empowers families to make informed decisions. This role invites you to blend clinical excellence with empathy, adapting to the rhythm of labor and the unique needs of each patient. As you serve, you’ll also grow your own expertise in newborn care, lactation support, and postpartum planning—areas where skilled nurses shape outcomes and forge lasting professional relationships. Beyond the bedside, this assignment offers a pathway to enrichment through diverse clinical experiences and exposure to a variety of obstetric scenarios that strengthen your capabilities for future leadership roles. While you embrace the beauty of Coos Bay’s coastal landscape, you’ll also be part of a nationwide program that enables you to take on assignments in other regions, diversifying your experiences and strengthening your resume with a breadth of obstetric cases and patient populations.

In this role, you’ll oversee key responsibilities that define excellence in Labor and Delivery nursing while charting a path for ongoing professional development. You’ll monitor labor progress, perform accurate fetal heart rate monitoring, and respond promptly to labor progress or fetal distress in collaboration with the OB team. You’ll assist with intake assessments, perform sterile techniques, administer medications as ordered, and support analgesia and anesthesia processes in partnership with anesthesia teams. Postpartum care will involve maternal and neonatal assessments, lactation counseling, newborn screening coordination, and patient education focused on newborn safety, breastfeeding, sleep strategies, and transition home. You’ll document accurately in the electronic medical record, participate in safety processes, and engage in case reviews to refine clinical judgment. The role also offers a clear trajectory for growth within the L&D specialty, with exposure to high- risk obstetric situations, leadership opportunities in the unit, and potential for expanded responsibilities as you demonstrate clinical proficiency and a commitment to evidence-based practice. You’ll enjoy competitive benefits that reflect the value of your expertise, including a generous weekly pay range of 1,651 to 1,759 dollars, sign-on bonus opportunities, and housing assistance designed to minimize relocation stress. In addition, the assignment supports extension opportunities, enabling you to deepen your impact within the same facility or transition to other locations that align with your career goals.
