Waimea, HI
Contracted
Kauai Veteran's Memorial Hospital
Mid Level
Step into an enriching path as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, bringing expert clinical care to patients in Hawaii and expanding your scope through dynamic assignments across the United States. In this role, you’ll lead advanced airway management, optimize ventilatory support, administer inhaled therapies, and monitor patient progress with precision. Your compassionate approach will guide families through challenging moments while you collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and respiratory care teams to tailor treatments that reduce distress and improve outcomes. This opportunity places you in Waimea, Hawaii, with the possibility to broaden your horizons by working in other locations on future assignments. Start date is 03/02/2026, and assignments run for multi-week periods, offering flexible opportunities to weave professional growth with personal adventures. Imagine applying your skills in a setting that values patient-centered care and clinical excellence, while enjoying the distinctive beauty and culture of the Aloha State.
Waimea’s beauty is not just in its scenery but in the everyday rhythm of life that supports well-being and resilience. Picture mornings against a backdrop of verdant hills and sweeping vistas, afternoons exploring local markets and quiet beaches, and evenings under starry skies that invite reflection after demanding shifts. The island’s aloha spirit fosters a collaborative, supportive work culture where colleagues become mentors and professional growth is embraced. This environment invites you to recharge, staying connected to the communities you serve while pursuing ongoing education and specialty development. Embrace the opportunity to experience Hawaii’s unique blend of outdoor adventure, cultural richness, and professional fulfillment, with the option to extend your journey to other locations across the U.S. to broaden your clinical repertoire.
Location benefits extend far beyond a single site. Working in Waimea offers access to modern respiratory care technology, a close-knit hospital team, and a lifestyle that supports work–life balance. You’ll find opportunities to engage in multidisciplinary rounds, participate in continuing education, and leverage resources designed to enhance patient outcomes and clinician satisfaction. For clinicians seeking variety and broader exposure, this program provides pathways to rotate through different locations nationwide, exposing you to diverse patient populations, different care protocols, and a wide range of case mixes. The experience sharpens diagnostic acumen, widens treatment perspectives, and builds a resilient practice that translates into lasting professional credibility. Whether you stay in Hawaii or explore other U.S. sites, you’ll benefit from an environment that respects expertise, encourages curiosity, and rewards dedication.
Role specifics and benefits are crafted to support your success. Core responsibilities include assessing patients’ respiratory status, initiating and adjusting therapies (oxygen administration, bronchodilators, nebulized treatments, and airway clearance techniques), managing ventilators and weaning protocols, performing arterial blood gas sampling and analysis, titrating therapies to optimize oxygenation and ventilation, and providing critical care support during emergencies. You’ll participate in daily rounds, collaborate with physicians and nurses to develop individualized care plans, and educate patients and families to foster understanding and adherence. Documentation in the electronic medical record will be precise and timely, with emphasis on safety, infection control, and quality improvement. The role offers clear avenues for professional growth, including specialty certifications, mentorship from senior clinicians, leadership development tracks, and involvement in quality improvement initiatives that shape better patient care.
Benefits are competitive and designed to recognize your expertise. You’ll receive a weekly pay range of $3,015 to $3,209, with additional incentives such as a bonus program and housing assistance to ease transition and relocation. There are extension opportunities should you wish to continue beyond the initial assignment, ensuring continuity for both you and the teams you support. Travel and housing logistics are supported by a dedicated team, along with comprehensive 24/7 assistance to keep your travel seamless and secure. Orientation, clinical guidance, continuing education support, and access to a network of healthcare professionals committed to your success round out a robust package designed to empower you to focus on patient care while you grow.
Company values center on empowering staff, advancing careers, and creating a collaborative, supportive work environment.
