Burlington, VT

University of Vermont Medical Center- UVMMC
Mid Level
Step into an ER RN assignment in Burlington, Vermont, where your expertise will rise to meet fast-paced, life-saving challenges with every shift. Starting 02/09/2026, this weeks-long assignment invites you to lead, triage, and stabilize patients in a dynamic emergency department, collaborating with clinicians who share your commitment to excellence. In this role, your clinical judgment, calm demeanor, and swift action will shape outcomes—from rapid triage and trauma stabilization to airway management, pain control, and patient education that supports families through stressful moments. You’ll be part of a resilient team that values precision, compassion, and continuous learning, turning demanding moments into opportunities to mentor others and refine your practice. Your impact will be felt not only in patient rooms but across the ED as you model best practices, ensure safety, and elevate the standard of care.

Beyond the hospital walls, Vermont offers a landscape of natural beauty and seasonal splendor: the Green Mountains, miles of outdoor trails, Lake Champlain’s storied shoreline, and towns that celebrate craft, food, and community. From serene mornings on a Burlington lakefront to vibrant autumn foliage painting valleys in amber and crimson, the state invites you to recharge and reconnect with what drew you to nursing in the first place. The experience of living and working in this region blends professional purpose with the serenity and rejuvenation that come from nature, cuisine, and a welcoming, small-town charm.

Working in Burlington provides a balanced blend of hospital energy and regional access to cultural events, university life, and nearby outdoor adventures. The city’s emergency department environment is known for its collaborative teams, strong nurse-to-patient relationships, and opportunities to participate in evidence-based practices that shape patient outcomes. If you crave variety, our travel program also offers the chance to work in multiple locations across the United States, expanding your clinical exposure and professional network while maintaining the support and structure you expect from a dedicated employer.

In this ER RN role, you’ll lead nursing care for a broad spectrum of presentations—from trauma and acute medical emergencies to pediatric and OB triage. Responsibilities include rapid patient assessment, prioritization and escalation, vascular access, medication administration, monitoring, and precise documentation, all while collaborating with physicians, respiratory therapists, and ancillary teams. You’ll drive patient and family education, implement guidelines and protocols, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives that uplift patient outcomes. The role offers clear pathways for professional growth within emergency care—consider leadership tracks, specialty certifications, and opportunities for contract extensions that allow you to deepen your experience. Our benefits package is designed to recognize your contributions: a competitive sign-on bonus, housing assistance or stipend, and the flexibility to extend your assignment for additional weeks if you wish to expand your skills and leadership capabilities. You’ll receive comprehensive support from a dedicated traveler team and 24/7 assistance as you travel with the company, ensuring credentialing, scheduling, housing, and transit are coordinated smoothly.

Our organization is anchored in empowering staff, prioritizing career advancement, mentorship, and a culture of respect. We invest in you with ongoing education, access to clinical resources, peer collaboration, and a supportive environment that celebrates your autonomy while providing a safety net of guidance and care. Growth isn’t a peripheral promise here—it’s built into every assignment through structured orientation, competency checks, and leadership opportunities that align with your professional goals.
