Travel Registered Nurse ER Job

Arcata, CA
Contracted
Mad River Community Hospital
Mid Level
Step into the fast-paced, life-changing world of ER nursing with a traveling opportunity in Arcata, California. As an integral member of a dynamic emergency department team, you will bring calm, clinical excellence to patients in moments that matter most, shaping outcomes and elevating care standards across the continuum. This multi-week assignment, beginning February 2, 2026, is designed for seasoned ER RNs who thrive on rapid assessment, decisive action, and teamwork under pressure. You’ll have the chance to impact diverse patient populations, refine critical skills, and advance your career in an environment that values both autonomy and mentorship. In addition to competitive compensation, you’ll join a program that supports your well-being and professional growth every step of the way. You’ll contribute to a culture that prioritizes patient-centered care, evidence-based practice, and continuous learning, all while enjoying the enriching experience of living and working in an iconic part of Northern California.

Arcata sits on the northern California coast, a place where towering redwoods meet the blue Pacific and where community life blends academic energy with small-town warmth. Working here means you’ll enjoy access to lush trails, scenic beaches, and rich cultural offerings from the Arcata Theatre Lounge to the Arcata Farmers’ Market. The location also offers the flexibility many travelers seek: the possibility to rotate through nearby coastal communities or to take assignments across the United States. You’ll be part of a welcoming region that prioritizes work-life balance, safety, and opportunities to experience landscapes from awe-inspiring redwood groves to serene harbor settings. We also support your housing and logistics so you can focus on patient care from day one. Whether you’re chasing weekend coastal sunsets or weekday scenic hikes, Arcata provides a balanced backdrop for professional achievement and personal renewal.

On the ground, you’ll deliver comprehensive ER care: triage, rapid assessment, IV access, medications administration, wound care, infection control, and disaster readiness. You’ll collaborate with physicians, PAs, techs, and case managers to ensure timely interventions and smooth patient flow. You’ll have opportunities to expand expertise in trauma stabilization, telemetry coordination, and critical-care handoffs, while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety. Our program includes a competitive weekly pay range of $1,917 to $2,011, with a guaranteed 36 hours per week, and duty-to-duty consistency across shifts. A signing bonus is available in eligible cases, and you’ll have housing assistance to ease transitions. We encourage contract extensions for strong performers, providing continuity and the chance to deepen ties with the team you’ll grow with. And because traveling can be demanding, you’ll have 24/7 support from our dedicated travel team, available to troubleshoot logistics, credentialing, and clinical questions at any hour.

Our organization is anchored in empowering staff, fostering career advancement, and cultivating a supportive, inclusive work environment. From onboarding through ongoing education, we invest in your professional journey with mentorship, simulation training, and opportunities to pursue certifications that align with your ER goals. We celebrate resilience, evidence-based practice, and the belief that every patient encounter is an opportunity to learn and lead. When you join us, you become part of a network of clinicians who lift each other up, share best practices, and celebrate milestones together. You’ll find a culture that values curiosity, compassion, and collaboration as essential components of exceptional emergency care.
