Travel Registered Nurse IR Job
Rockford, IL
Contracted
Mercyhealth Hospital and Trauma Center - Riverside
Mid Level
Step into a pivotal role as a Travel Registered Nurse specializing in Interventional Radiology, where precision, compassion, and cutting‑edge imaging converge to improve patient outcomes. In this IR‑focused assignment, you’ll support physicians during critical vascular and minimally invasive procedures—from catheter guidance and contrast administration to post‑procedure recovery and vigilant monitoring. Each shift offers opportunities to refine techniques, learn new interventions, and make a meaningful difference in patients’ lives, all while enjoying the variety and flexibility of travel nursing. Rockford, Illinois—your base—combines Midwestern warmth with a thriving medical community, scenic riverwalks, and vibrant culture. And with the option to work in additional markets across the United States, you can broaden your clinical repertoire, build a versatile resume, and experience diverse hospital settings. Beyond the hospital walls, Illinois reveals its seasonal beauty—from lakeside escapes to forest preserves and cultural festivals—inviting you to explore as you grow your career.
Rockford’s medical center scene pairs modern facilities with supportive teams, excellent patient access, and a quality of life that supports sustained excellence. The city is a convenient base for weekend outings to nature preserves, gardens, and nearby communities, while its proximity to Chicago expands access to renowned academic centers and continuing education. For travelers, the arrangement offers the best of both worlds: a stable base with the possibility to rotate to other sites in Illinois or across the country, gaining exposure to different patient populations, protocols, and equipment. This structure is designed to broaden your IR skill set while keeping you connected to a welcoming community you can call home during your assignment.
As an IR Travel Nurse, you’ll be the essential link between patient safety and procedural success. Responsibilities include thorough pre‑procedure assessments, maintaining sterile technique, assisting IR physicians during angiography and endovascular interventions, setting up contrast and imaging equipment, monitoring vitals, and guiding patients through recovery and education. You’ll document details in the electronic health record and contribute to quality improvement by staying current with IR best practices. The role offers clear growth avenues: deepen technical proficiency in vascular interventions, expand into related imaging modalities, and gain leadership experience as you partner with diverse teams. Benefits include competitive weekly pay ranging from $2,544 to $2,660, a sign‑on or performance bonus where applicable, and housing assistance to simplify transitions between assignments. You’ll have guaranteed 40 hours per week, with the option to extend your contract based on hospital needs and mutual interest. Comprehensive benefits cover health, dental, and retirement planning, plus orientation, credentialing support, and access to ongoing education. You’ll also receive 24/7 support from a dedicated travel care team while you’re on assignment, ensuring help is available whenever you need it during your travels. In sum, you’ll work in a dynamic specialty, enjoy dependable planning, and gain confidence and versatility that will serve your career long after the contract ends.
Our organization is committed to empowering staff, supporting career advancement, and cultivating a collaborative, safe, and respectful work environment. We invest in your growth through mentorship, credentialing assistance, diverse case exposure, and opportunities to assume leadership roles as you gain experience. By joining our team, you’ll be part of a community that values your expertise, respects your professional goals, and prioritizes your well‑being while delivering exceptional patient care.
