Introduction
Answer the call to make a measurable difference as a Registered Nurse specializing in Med Surg. This travel contract places you in Lake Isabella, California, where compassionate, patient-centered care meets the rugged beauty of the Sierra and the sparkle of the lake. As you validate treatments, manage complex cases, and mentor less experienced teammates, you will influence healing outcomes across diverse patient populations. The Med Surg floor is fast-paced and rewarding, offering opportunities to refine assessment skills, care coordination, infection prevention, and discharge planning while advancing your clinical leadership. Outside the hospital, California’s landscapes invite outdoor renewal—sunlit mornings along the Kern River, hiking in forested foothills, and evenings under wide, star-filled skies—providing a refreshing balance to a demanding clinical role.
Location Benefits
Lake Isabella is a picturesque base with easy access to outdoor recreation, local dining, and a tight-knit community. Working here gives you a chance to enjoy a quieter, scenic setting while still contributing to high-quality acute care. For many travelers, the opportunity also includes placements at additional U.S. sites, expanding your professional repertoire and exposing you to varied patient populations, hospital cultures, and care models. This mix of stability, scenery, and travel provides a unique blend of predictability (36 guaranteed hours per week) and adventure, helping you maintain clinical excellence while broadening your career horizon. The California experience invites you to explore alpine trails, pristine waterways, and vibrant regional communities during your off days, creating a balanced rhythm between professional momentum and personal renewal.
Role Specifics and Benefits
In Med Surg, you will provide direct patient care across medical and surgical units, monitor vitals and labs, perform assessments, administer medications, manage IV therapy, wound care, and pre/postoperative care, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and update individualized care plans. You will educate patients and families, facilitate safe transitions of care, and document with precision to support positive outcomes. The role offers strong avenues for professional growth within the Med Surg specialty, including exposure to complex cases, evidence-based protocols, and leadership opportunities as you gain experience. Benefits include a competitive weekly gross pay range of $1,771 to $1,867, with guaranteed hours of 36 per week. We also offer a sign-on/completion bonus where applicable, significant housing assistance to ease relocation or temporary housing needs, and the potential for contract extensions to extend your time with an outstanding healthcare system.
