- Setting up and organizing sterile fields, instruments, implants, and equipment for surgical cases.
- Assisting the surgical team by passing instruments, anticipating needs, and maintaining optimal visibility and workflow during procedures.
- Conducting meticulous instrument counts with the team to prevent retained surgical items and ensure patient safety.
- Preparing, sterilizing, and circulating equipment, maintaining environmental controls, and monitoring room readiness before, during, and after surgeries.
- Supporting anesthesia and nursing staff with patient positioning, draping, specimen handling, and documentation as needed.
- Participating in post-operative room turnover, decontamination, and inventory management to sustain a high-reliability OR.
- Engaging in ongoing professional development opportunities, cross-training on new techniques, and collaboration with perioperative services for process improvements.
