Travel Occupational Therapist Job
Silver Spring, MD
Contracted
Fairland Center
Mid Level
Step into a transformative role as an Occupational Therapist in Maryland, with a focused assignment in Silver Spring that places you at the center of patient-centered rehabilitation and daily living empowerment. This is more than a job—it’s an opportunity to help individuals of all ages reclaim independence, adapt to life after illness or injury, and thrive in activities that matter most. In this specialty, your expertise translates into tangible improvements in mobility, fine motor skills, cognitive engagement, and independence at home, school, work, and community. Maryland’s rich communities and scenic landscapes provide daily inspiration: from the riverfront charm of Silver Spring to the historic neighborhoods of nearby Bethesda and Rockville, and from the tranquil banks of the Chesapeake to the scenic trails of Patapsco Valley. The state’s blend of urban opportunity and natural beauty creates an environment where professional fulfillment goes hand in hand with work–life balance.
Location benefits go beyond a single city. Silver Spring offers proximity to Washington, DC, with a robust network of hospitals, clinics, and rehabilitation centers, fostering collaboration with top therapists, physicians, and caregivers. You’ll have access to ongoing learning opportunities, multidisciplinary teams, and a culture that values evidence-based practice and patient-centered outcomes. For those who relish variety, there’s an exciting pathway to work across multiple locations in the United States, broadening your clinical exposure while maintaining the security of guaranteed hours and a stable schedule. This role combines the comfort of a dedicated assignment in Maryland with the potential to explore new environments, communities, and populations—each placement designed to sharpen your clinical acumen and expand your professional network.
Role specifics and benefits
As an Occupational Therapist in this travel-focused opportunity, you’ll lead comprehensive evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans to improve activities of daily living, motor skills, neurocognitive function, and adaptive equipment use. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include hands-on therapy, designing and implementing purposeful therapeutic activities, and guiding patients and families through home safety modifications, adaptive strategies, and caregiver education. You’ll document progress in the electronic health record, contribute to interdisciplinary care conferences, and collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, and educators to optimize outcomes. Your practice will reflect a commitment to person-centered care, adaptive thinking, and measurable progress toward each patient’s goals.
This role offers substantial room for professional growth within the specialty. You’ll be positioned to deepen expertise across subspecialties, such as pediatrics, neurological rehabilitation, hand therapy, geriatrics, or splinting and orthotic management. Expect mentorship from experienced clinicians, opportunities to pursue specialty certifications, and exposure to a broad spectrum of clinical settings—acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing, and outpatient clinics. Leadership pathways are available for those who aspire to educate peers, supervise new staff, or lead program development initiatives that enhance care delivery and patient satisfaction.
Key benefits accompany this assignment. A highly competitive compensation package includes weekly pay ranging from $1,373 to $1,445, with guaranteed hours of 35 per week. In addition to financial rewards, you may receive a sign-on bonus and housing assistance to ease relocation or temporary housing while you’re on assignment. There are extension opportunities at the end of your initial period, allowing you to continue growing with the same supportive team if you choose. Throughout your travels, you’ll have 24/7 support from the company’s dedicatedTravel Care team, ready to assist with scheduling, housing, licensure needs, and on-the-ground guidance. A comprehensive benefits package that supports health, wellness, and professional development complements the travel experience, ensuring you can focus on patient care and skill advancement.
