Travel Surgical Tech Job

Portland, OR
Contracted
Adventist Health Portland
Mid Level
Embark on a dynamic Travel Surgical Tech opportunity in Portland, Oregon, where your precision and teamwork directly influence patient outcomes in fast-paced operating rooms. In this role, you’ll support surgeons, scrub teams, and circulating nurses, ensuring sterile technique, meticulous instrument handling, and seamless case flow across a variety of specialties. Visualize yourself moving through state-of-the-art centers, collaborating with seasoned professionals, and sharpening your technical skills while contributing to life-changing procedures. This position offers the flexibility of travel with a trusted partner, letting you build a diverse portfolio of experiences within surgical services. Beyond the OR, Oregon’s natural beauty—the cascading waterfalls of the Columbia Gorge, the grandeur of Mount Hood, and the sweeping vistas of the Pacific coastline—invites you to recharge between assignments and explore a thriving cultural scene. You’ll contribute to meaningful care in a city that blends innovation, sustainability, and community, creating opportunities to grow while enjoying a high quality of life in the Pacific Northwest.

Portland’s medical landscape is renowned for patient-centered care, interdisciplinary collaboration, and a supportive work environment. Working in this vibrant city means joining teams that value continuity of learning, mentorship, and hands-on collaboration across general, orthopedic, GI, vascular, and specialty procedures. The area’s hospitals and surgical centers provide exposure to diverse cases, modern technologies, and a culture that prioritizes safety and professional development. If you crave variety and the chance to refine your craft, you’ll appreciate the ability to experience different facilities within Portland’s strong healthcare network. For clinicians who relish travel, there is also the opportunity to work in other locations across the United States, gaining exposure to varied patient populations, facilities, and surgical teams, all while maintaining competitive compensation and support. Portland’s blend of urban energy, thriving arts and food scenes, and easy access to outdoor recreation makes it an ideal home base for someone who wants both professional challenge and personal exploration.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for essential hands-on support across a range of surgical services. Core duties include setting up sterile instrument trays and equipment, maintaining a sterile field throughout procedures, passing instruments to the surgeon and primary staff, performing accurate counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments, and assisting with specimen labeling and transport. You’ll help prepare the operative environment, scrub for designated cases, anticipate the needs of the perioperative team, and contribute to efficient turnover between procedures. The position offers ongoing opportunities for professional growth within the surgical technology field, including exposure to specialty areas, cross-training, and potential pathways toward advanced roles. You’ll work with a dedicated support network that provides 24/7 assistance while you travel, ensuring you have reliable access to guidance, resources, and troubleshooting regardless of the assignment location. Alongside clinical skill development, you’ll gain insight into hospital operations, patient care workflows, and the collaborative dynamics that keep ORs running smoothly.

Compensation and benefits are designed to recognize your expertise and commitment. The role offers a competitive weekly pay range of $1,583 to $1,637, with pay reflective of location, shift patterns, and experience. While hours are not guaranteed, you’ll have the flexibility to align your schedule with your personal and professional goals, and there are structured extension opportunities to renew or expand your assignments based on performance and facility needs. In addition to base pay, you may be eligible for performance bonuses, which reward efficiency, teamwork, and quality outcomes. Housing assistance is available to help you secure comfortable accommodations near your assignment, reducing daily commute stress and enabling you to focus on clinical excellence. The program also emphasizes extension opportunities, allowing you to extend contracts for additional weeks or repeat placements in preferred facilities, thereby building continuity, deeper relationships with teams, and a richer repertoire of experiences in the surgical environment.

The company’s values center on empowering staff to advance their careers within a supportive, inclusive culture. You’ll be part of a network that prioritizes ongoing learning, transparent communication, and opportunities to mentor others as you gain experience. Expect robust administrative support, including onboarding resources, credentialing assistance, and access to continuing education opportunities that align with your goals. The environment emphasizes collaboration, respect, and recognition for hard work, with a commitment to your wellbeing and professional development as you navigate multiple assignments across the country. You’ll be encouraged to take ownership of your growth, explore new subspecialties, and contribute to a culture of excellence that appreciates your skills and dedication.

If you’re ready to elevate your surgical technology career while exploring Oregon’s beauty and beyond, this is your moment. Apply now to join a company that values your contribution, supports your development, and stands by you as you advance in a dynamic travel role.
