Key responsibilities on the stepdown unit include close patient monitoring, continuous telemetry oversight, timely assessment and documentation of changes in condition, administration of medications and IV therapies, respiratory support management, post-operative care, wound and drain care, and collaboration with physicians, case managers, and families to coordinate safe transitions. You will implement evidence-based practices, participate in rounds, lead safety initiatives, and support new staff entering the unit.
