Travel Registered Nurse OR Job

Machias, ME
Contracted
Down East Community Hospital
Mid Level
Embark on a rewarding journey as a Travel OR Registered Nurse in the beautiful state of Maine, with a focused assignment in Machias. As an OR RN, you’ll partner with multidisciplinary teams to safeguard patient safety, ensure flawless perioperative flow, and help patients through some of the most important moments of their lives. Beginning 03/23/2026, this multi-week assignment offers a competitive weekly pay band of $2,374 to $2,517, with opportunities for extension and professional growth within a thriving surgical environment. Picture yourself delivering compassionate, precision-based care while exploring the unique character of Maine—from its rugged coastline to its inland forests. Machias, with its historic harbor and proximity to the Bold Coast, invites you to balance clinical excellence with outdoor adventures, dining on fresh seafood, and quiet evenings under starry skies.

Machias and the state of Maine present a unique backdrop for perioperative nursing—small-town warmth, a strong sense of community, and access to scenic outdoors during your time off. You’ll benefit from modern operating suites, state-of-the-art equipment, and a support system designed for travel clinicians that puts your safety and well-being first. The location rewards your expertise with collaborative teams, mentorship from seasoned perioperative leaders, and a culture that respects every patient’s dignity. The opportunity to work across various locations in the United States adds an exciting dimension to your career, allowing you to experience different hospital cultures, case mixes, and technological platforms while expanding your professional network and polishing your surgical craft. In Machias and beyond, you’ll enjoy a work environment that balances high-acuity patient care with the serenity of coastal Maine, giving you the chance to recharge between cases and return to the OR with renewed focus.

In this role you’ll be at the center of the operative suite. Core responsibilities include preparing the OR, maintaining strict sterile technique, scrubbing in and circulating as needed, assisting surgeons and anesthesia teams, and performing meticulous instrument counts to prevent any gaps in safety. You’ll help position patients for optimal access while protecting nerves and soft tissue, manage lines and drains as directed, and ensure seamless turnover between cases. Your vigilance supports patient outcomes from pre-op through recovery, with precise documentation and clear handoffs to PACU staff. The chance for professional growth is built into every shift: exposure to a wide range of procedures—general, orthopedics, gynecology, plastics, urologic and robotic-assisted surgeries—so you can deepen your perioperative skill set, master advanced equipment, and participate in evidence-based practices that elevate care standards. Our program supports ongoing education, simulated practice, and access to resources that help you stay current with evolving surgical techniques and safety protocols. You’ll also enjoy a comprehensive benefits package designed to recognize your expertise, including a sign-on bonus, housing assistance, and the potential for contract extensions that translate into lasting impact and career momentum. Importantly, you’ll have 24/7 support from a dedicated travel team, ensuring you have assistance whenever you need it while you navigate new facilities, time zones, or on-call requirements. This is a role where your autonomy as an OR professional is respected, while you’re backed by a network that values your well-being and professional voice.

The company behind this opportunity is anchored in empowering staff through clear pathways for career advancement and a supportive, inclusive work culture. Your growth isn’t limited to the OR; you’ll find mentorship options, leadership development, and access to continuing education that recognizes your ambition. The environment emphasizes teamwork, transparent communication, and a commitment to work-life balance, with resources designed to minimize burnout and maximize job satisfaction. Whether you’re seeking to advance into charge nurse roles, perioperative leadership, or specialty certification, you’ll discover avenues to broaden your scope while remaining rooted in the core values of compassionate patient care, integrity, and respect for every member of the surgical team.

If you’re ready to join a company that values your expertise and your professional journey, this is your invitation to pursue a role that blends surgical excellence with the beauty and vitality of Maine.
