Nestled near the Shawnee National Forest, the area invites hiking, biking, water recreation, and easy access to scenic drives that showcase fall colors and spring serenity. Carbondale’s downtown scene blends small-town warmth with cultural events, dining, and a supportive healthcare community. Whether you’re drawn to the charm of southern Illinois or the possibility of rotating to other locations across the U.S., this role positions you to experience diverse settings, patient populations, and clinical challenges that sharpen your clinical judgment and leadership. Our network also presents opportunities to work in various locations nationwide, enabling you to broaden your professional horizons while maintaining the stability of a trusted assignment in your specialty.
Role specifics are designed to empower you as a PCU nurse while ensuring you have the resources to excel. You’ll provide dedicated care to patients who require close monitoring, advanced alertness to subtle clinical changes, and proactive interventions to prevent deterioration. Key responsibilities include comprehensive patient assessments, continuous vital sign surveillance, telemetry interpretation, IV therapy administration, and accurate medication administration within scope. You’ll collaborate with physicians, case managers, and therapists to implement care plans, coordinate timely discharge planning, and educate patients and families about condition management and post-acute needs. The role offers opportunities for skill refinement in hemodynamic monitoring, complex telemetry, and safe transitional care, with pathways for specialty certifications, mentorship, and leadership development as you demonstrate consistency, compassion, and clinical excellence. In addition to clinical duties, you’ll engage in quality improvement initiatives, participate in team huddles, and contribute to a supportive, high-reliability culture that prioritizes patient safety and continuous learning. We recognize the value of stable, ongoing professional growth, including expansion opportunities within the PCU pathway or broader nursing leadership tracks.
Competitive benefits are a cornerstone of this assignment. In addition to solid pay, you’ll have access to a sign-on style incentive, housing assistance where needed, and clear extension opportunities that align with your career goals. The program is designed to recognize your expertise and reward your commitment with options for continued placement beyond the initial term. As you travel or transition between facilities, you’ll receive comprehensive support from a dedicated team, including 24/7 assistance and on-call resources to address clinical questions, housing needs, scheduling preferences, and travel logistics. You’ll never navigate complex shifts alone; our emphasis on continuous support helps you maintain momentum, balance, and confidence in your caregiving.
