York Hospital
Mid Level
Embark on a rewarding journey as a Registered Nurse, PACU specialist, in York, Maine. This travel assignment invites you to bring your PACU expertise to a fast-paced recovery environment where every patient’s first hours of recovery matter. You’ll guide patients through the critical transition from anesthesia to readiness for discharge or transfer, balancing vigilant monitoring with compassionate bedside care. Your skill set will help stabilize breathing and circulation, assess pain and nausea, and ensure smooth handoffs to the next care phase. Each shift offers a tangible opportunity to shape outcomes, mentor teammates, and elevate perioperative workflows. Beyond the clinical impact, you’ll enjoy Maine’s distinctive blend of small-town charm and rugged coastline, where charming beaches, historic districts, and scenic sunsets create a refreshing backdrop for your professional journey.

Nestled along Maine’s southern coast, York combines coastal beauty with community warmth. Expect easy access to outdoor recreation, fresh seafood, quaint shops, and a quieter pace that supports focus and resilience in high-stakes care. When you’re off shift, you can explore oceanfront promenades, tide pools, and nearby lighthouses, or take day trips to other coastal gems along the Maine seacoast. The location also provides the chance to experience regional history, festivals, and seasonal attractions that enrich your time outside the hospital. In addition to this specialty assignment in York, there is the opportunity to work in various locations across the U.S., exposing you to diverse hospital cultures, patient populations, and perioperative practices. This flexibility enhances your clinical repertoire, expands your professional network, and keeps your career dynamic and inspiring.

As a PACU RN, your role centers on rigorous recovery room care with a focus on safety, communication, and patient education. Key responsibilities include continuous assessment of airway, breathing, circulation, and neurological status; timely management of pain, nausea, and hemodynamic changes; preparation of patients for transfer to inpatient units or discharge; meticulous documentation of procedures and progress; and collaborative handoffs with anesthesia, surgeons, and post-anesthesia care teams. You’ll interpret monitors, respond to oxygen desaturation or unstable vitals, and implement stable recovery protocols under evidence-based guidelines. This role also offers ongoing professional growth within the PACU specialty, with opportunities to develop leadership, preceptor responsibilities, and cross-training in related perioperative services. The position supports your advancement through mentorship, skill-building sessions, and exposure to a range of surgical specialties, from elective procedures to complex cases, all within a supportive, team-first environment.

Compensation and benefits are structured to recognize your expertise and travel commitments. The weekly pay ranges from $1,335 to $1,359, with guaranteed hours of 36.0 per week. The assignment is for several weeks starting February 23, 2026, offering the stability you need while you explore new clinical settings. You’ll have access to a sign-on bonus where eligible, comprehensive housing assistance to ease relocation needs, and the potential for contract extensions that align with your personal and professional goals. In addition, you’ll receive robust support from a 24/7 traveling team dedicated to ensuring a smooth experience—assistance with housing logistics, shift scheduling, credentialing, and on-site orientation whenever and wherever you work.
