Comanche County Memorial Hospital - Lawton, OK
Mid Level
Step into a transformative Travel Psychiatric Registered Nurse role in Lawton, Oklahoma, where your clinical skill, empathy, and leadership can illuminate the path to recovery for patients navigating complex mental health challenges. This is more than a job—it's a mission to deliver compassionate, patient-centered care in fast-paced behavioral health units, crisis intervention settings, and acute inpatientpsychiatric environments. As you rotate through diverse clinical scenarios, you’ll lead assessments and triage, develop individualized care plans, administer medications when indicated, and implement evidence-based interventions that promote safety, stabilization, and lasting wellness. Your expertise will shine in de-escalation, risk assessment, trauma-informed care, and collaboration with psychiatrists, social workers, therapists, and case managers to align treatment with each patient’s goals. If you’re driven to elevate standards of care, mentor junior staff, and champion ethical practice, this role provides a platform to grow into confident, influential clinical leadership within the psychiatric specialty.

Lawton, Oklahoma, offers a welcoming backdrop for your travel assignment. Nestled near Fort Sill, the city blends small-town charm with modern amenities, a robust cultural scene, and affordable living that helps you maximize your income on assignment. You’ll experience Oklahoma’s natural beauty—from the rolling plains and expansive skies to nearby outdoor treasures like the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge and scenic lakes—providing a restorative balance to demanding shifts. The region’s communities value hospitality and collaboration, creating an environment where you can connect with patients, families, and colleagues on a personal level. For those who crave variety, this opportunity also opens the door to working in additional locations across the United States, exposing you to different hospital cultures, patient demographics, and clinical practices that sharpen your skills and expand your professional network. Whether you’re returning to a familiar city or exploring new landscapes, your travel nurse experience will be enriched by the chance to immerse yourself in a spectrum of behavioral health settings.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for delivering comprehensive psychiatric nursing care, including triage and intake assessments, crisis intervention, medication reconciliation, monitoring and documentation of psychiatric symptoms, safety planning, and collaborative care planning with interdisciplinary teams. You’ll facilitate individual, group, and family therapy concepts in alignment with treatment goals, apply trauma-informed approaches, and employ evidence-based de-escalation techniques to reduce risk and promote stabilization. You’ll participate in discharge planning, ensure continuity of care across transitions, and advocate for patient, family, and staff safety at all times. The position offers robust professional growth: opportunities to pursue specialty certifications in psych or psychiatric-mental health nursing, participate in continuing education initiatives, take on progressive responsibilities, and contribute to quality improvement projects that refine patient outcomes. You’ll be supported to expand your clinical acumen and leadership abilities as you demonstrate clinical excellence, reliability, and compassionate care across shifts.

Our compensation package reflects a commitment to valuing your expertise and dedication. The role provides a competitive weekly pay range of $1,545 to $1,654, with guaranteed 36.0 hours of work per week, ensuring steadier income and predictable scheduling. The assignment begins on 12/29/2025 and continues for multiple weeks, with the potential for extension based on performance, unit needs, and your career ambitions. In addition to salary, you’ll benefit from a sign-on bonus designed to recognize your commitment and a housing assistance option to help you settle smoothly into each new location. We also offer extension opportunities, so you can plan a longer-term trajectory with our organization if you find a preferred setting and a team you trust. Comprehensive support is a hallmark of our program: 24/7 access to travel and clinical support from experienced staffing coordinators, clinician mentors, and operations teams who are dedicated to your success, safety, and peace of mind while you’re on the road.
