Norfolk, VA
Contracted
Powerback - RHS - Lake Taylor Hospital -RTRT
Mid Level
Step into a pivotal role as a Respiratory Therapist in Norfolk, Virginia, where every breath you support translates into restored confidence and renewed vitality for patients navigating acute and chronic respiratory conditions. In this specialty, your expertise lights the path for neonates, children, and adults alike, guiding evidence-based therapies, ventilator management, airway clearance techniques, and innovative therapy modalities. Imagine the fulfillment of collaborating with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to tailor care plans that improve oxygenation, reduce work of breathing, and empower patients on their recovery journey. This opportunity provides the stability of a structured contract with competitive weekly pay in the range of $1,604 to $1,663, a guaranteed 36 hours per week, and the chance to extend your impact beyond a single assignment. As you consider this path, you may also find Virginia’s beauty inviting you to unwind—coastal sunsets along the Chesapeake Bay, vibrant neighborhoods in Norfolk, and easy weekends exploring Virginia Beach, the Historic Triangle, and the Blue Ridge vistas.

Working in Norfolk offers access to a robust medical community, research opportunities, and a dynamic coastal lifestyle. You'll enjoy access to top-tier hospitals and educational facilities, paired with a cost of living that supports long-term growth. If travel pulls you, the role also offers the flexibility to work at a variety of sites across the U.S., expanding your professional network and exposing you to diverse patient populations, protocols, and equipment setups. The location's steady demand for respiratory care ensures a reliable workflow, predictable hours, and the chance to build lasting professional relationships with mentors and leaders in critical care. Norfolk’s maritime character provides a welcoming, collaborative environment where your expertise is valued and your career can flourish, with opportunities to rotate through ICU, step-down, NICU, and specialty clinics as you deepen your practice.

Role responsibilities include assessing and evaluating patients requiring respiratory support, developing goal-directed plans, and selecting and administering therapies such as chest physiotherapy, inhaled medications, non-invasive ventilation, and mechanical ventilation adjustments. You’ll monitor patient responses, document thoroughly, participate in rounds, communicate changes to the care team, and educate patients and families about airway clearance techniques and therapy goals. There are rich opportunities for professional growth through advanced certifications, specialization in NICU, PICU, or adult ICU, and leadership roles in quality improvement initiatives, protocol development, or multidisciplinary simulations. The position also emphasizes adherence to safety standards and evidence-based practice while encouraging ongoing skill development and compassionate, patient-centered care. In addition to the clinical rewards, benefits include a signing or retention bonus, housing assistance, and extension opportunities for contract renewals, giving you a clear path to deeper engagement with our teams.

Our organization is built on empowering its staff—fostering career advancement, recognizing expertise, and creating a supportive, inclusive environment. We invest in your growth through scheduled continuing education opportunities, mentoring, and clear pathways to expanded responsibility, so you can continually elevate your practice and impact across settings. Our culture is anchored in safety, integrity, and respect, ensuring you have the resources you need to thrive whether you’re in a fast-paced hospital ward or a focused, quieter specialty unit. You’ll join a travel program that prioritizes your well-being, with 24/7 support from a dedicated travel team, on-site clinical guidance, and access to governance and quality resources, so you never feel unsupported while you’re delivering critical care on the move.
