Rochester, NY
Contracted
URMC Strong Memorial Hospital
Mid Level
Embark on a critical, career-advancing journey as a Sterile Processing Tech in Rochester, New York, where every instrument reprocessed under your careful eye helps safeguard patient outcomes and empower surgical teams to perform at their best. In this role, you are the quiet architect of safety behind every successful procedure, ensuring instruments are decontaminated, inspected, sterilized, and properly stored with meticulous accuracy. Your daily work supports faster case flow, reduces infection risk, and reinforces the trust patients place in their healthcare system. This assignment begins March 2, 2026, and offers the chance to excel within a collaborative travel team that values skill, reliability, and professional growth. While you pursue this opportunity in the revitalizing environment of Rochester, you’ll also have the chance to experience the beauty of New York—from lush parks and scenic riverfronts to nearby Finger Lakes vistas—providing inspiring moments outside of work as you build your career.
Location benefits go beyond a single city. Rochester offers a thriving healthcare landscape, strong professional networks, and a balanced urban environment with vibrant dining, arts, and outdoor recreation. The role also opens doors to assignments across the United States, letting you explore diverse facilities—from renowned teaching hospitals to community-based centers—each with its own sterile processing workflows, standards, and opportunities to refine your craft. You’ll gain exposure to different instrument sets, sterilization methods, maintenance practices, and documentation systems, broadening your expertise while you enjoy the unique flavors, neighborhoods, and seasonal charm of the locations you serve. If you prefer one steady location, Rochester itself provides a welcoming community, stable resources, and a supportive work-life balance that helps you bring your best to every shift.
In this position, you’ll own and expand your role through hands-on responsibilities that are central to patient safety and surgical readiness. Core duties include processing, decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, and sterilizing instruments and supplies for surgical teams; loading and monitoring autoclaves and other sterilization equipment; maintaining accurate processing logs and traceability records; ensuring sterile storage compliance and shelf readiness; performing quality checks to catch any anomalies; assisting with instrument tracking, inventory control, and case carts; and collaborating with OR staff to anticipate needs and prevent delays. You’ll have opportunities to cross-train in related sterile processing tasks and quality assurance initiatives, positioning you for professional growth as a subject-matter expert in instrument reprocessing. The role supports professional advancement through ongoing education, potential certifications, and clear pathways to leadership or senior specialist tracks within sterile processing. Competitive benefits you’ll enjoy include a signing bonus, housing assistance, and the potential for contract extensions based on performance and facility demand. The position offers competitive weekly pay—$1,091 to $1,129—and emphasizes a comprehensive support network, including 24/7 assistance while you travel with the company, ensuring you and your family feel secure wherever the assignment takes you. The program also provides resources for scheduling flexibility, shift options, and a path to longer assignments if you choose to extend.
Our company values your contributions and is committed to empowering your career trajectory. We foster a culture of collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning, where experienced colleagues share best practices and newer teammates receive guidance to accelerate competency. You’ll find a supportive environment that prioritizes professional development, recognizes dedication, and encourages you to take ownership of your growth—whether that means pursuing advanced sterile processing credentials, specializing in a complex instrument set, or taking on quality assurance initiatives that elevate patient care. The emphasis is on sustaining a healthy work-life balance while delivering exceptional standards of safety and efficiency, with supervisors and peers who celebrate each milestone you achieve.
