Key responsibilities
- Perform and supervise nuclear medicine imaging studies, including planar, SPECT/CT, and PET imaging as applicable, ensuring precise acquisition, processing, and storage of images.
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals according to strict dosing protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements, validating patient identity and procedure appropriateness.
- Conduct rigorous quality control and calibrations of imaging equipment; troubleshoot hardware or software issues to minimize downtime.
- Apply ALARA principles to maintain radiation safety for patients, staff, and self; enforce proper shielding, handling, and waste disposal practices.
- Position patients for optimal image quality; monitor comfort, vitals, and potential adverse reactions; document patient history and procedural notes accurately.
- Collaborate with radiologists and clinicians to optimize imaging protocols, interpret preliminary findings, and support timely diagnostic decisions.
- Maintain meticulous records, ensure accurate coding, and participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
