Adventist Health Sonora - Westways
Mid Level
Embark on a transformative journey as a Travel Physical Therapist, bringing expert rehabilitation to patients across California and beyond. This is your opportunity to blend clinical mastery with travel adventure, guiding individuals through recovery, optimizing mobility, and helping them reclaim independence after injury or illness. As you serve in diverse clinical settings, you’ll strengthen your specialty in physical therapy, expand your practical toolbox, and gain hands-on experience with a wide range of conditions. Start date is 03/16/2026, with assignments lasting multiple weeks, allowing you to immerse yourself in each community while shaping a meaningful career path. Your impact will extend beyond the clinic walls, as you advocate for evidence-based care, empower patients to set attainable goals, and model compassionate, patient-centered practice every day. And as you travel, you’ll cultivate adaptability, refine communication with interdisciplinary teams, and build lasting professional relationships that advance your expertise and confidence. California’s vibrant healthcare landscape awaits your expertise, generosity, and dedication.
California, especially Sonora, offers more than a remarkable professional opportunity—it provides a gateway to spectacular natural beauty and a rich cultural tapestry. Nestled in the Sierra Nevada foothills, Sonora invites you to explore the charm of Gold Country, stroll historic streets lined with boutiques and eateries, and enjoy outdoor adventures just beyond your doorstep. From nearby national forests and scenic drives to weekend escapes to world-renowned parks and wine regions, the state’s diverse scenery complements the rewarding work you’ll do. Whether you’ve got a passion for hiking, photography, or exploring small-town communities with big heart, California’s landscapes offer serenity and inspiration in equal measure. This distinction pairs perfectly with a career focused on healing and movement, giving you replenishing balance between your assignments and personal renewal.
Location benefits extend beyond the beauty of Sonora. You’ll have the chance to work in this picturesque locale with appealing advantages for traveling therapists, including exposure to a variety of patient populations, settings, and care models. You may also have opportunities to rotate to other locations across the United States, opening doors to new clinical challenges, documentation practices, and collaborative networks. Expect flexible housing options and support to help you settle quickly, so you can focus on delivering exceptional care from day one. Our team understands the realities of travel assignments—logistics, acclimation, and balancing personal goals with professional growth—and provides proactive resources to smooth every transition. You’ll gain access to a comprehensive support system, ensuring you’re never alone on the road and always connected to a reliable network of peers, supervisors, and patient-care partners.
In this Travel Physical Therapist role, your responsibilities will center on delivering high-quality, outcome-driven rehabilitation. You’ll conduct thorough functional assessments, design and implement individualized treatment plans, and employ evidence-based therapies to enhance strength, range of motion, motor control, balance, gait, and functional mobility. You’ll guide patients through targeted therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, neuromuscular re-education, gait training, and assistive device optimization. Part of your mission is to document progress with standardized outcomes, communicate progress to physicians and care teams, and adjust plans as needed to meet evolving goals. You’ll lead patient and family education, focusing on home exercise programs, safety strategies, and strategies to sustain gains after discharge. Collaboration will be a core aspect of your role: you’ll coordinate care with nurses, physicians, occupational therapists, and other professionals, ensuring a seamless, integrated treatment experience. You’ll also participate in discharge planning, identify barriers to recovery, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives. Depending on site needs, you’ll have opportunities to specialize in orthopedic, neurological, geriatric, or pediatric rehab, with pathways to deepen your expertise and broaden your clinical scope. The role also emphasizes professional growth—participation in in-service trainings, access to continuing education credits, and mentorship from experienced clinicians who value your development and curiosity.
Benefits are designed to recognize your expertise and support your travel journey. You’ll receive competitive weekly pay in the range of $2,161 to $2,279, with the flexibility to optimize earnings across assignments. A bonus program rewards exceptional performance and patient outcomes, reflecting the value you bring to every setting. Housing assistance helps ease relocation logistics, providing essential support to secure comfortable, convenient accommodations near your worksite. You’ll also have extension opportunities, enabling you to extend successful placements or transition smoothly to new assignments as your preferences and clinical needs evolve. In addition to compensation, you’ll enjoy robust professional support, including 24/7 assistance while traveling with the company, ensuring you have reliable help for scheduling, site questions, or unfamiliar clinical environments. Our travel portfolio is built to minimize friction, so you can focus on delivering compassionate care and advancing your clinical skills in meaningful ways.
Our company’s values center on empowering staff and fostering a climate where career advancement is tangible and attainable. We’re committed to creating a supportive, inclusive environment where your expertise is respected, your ideas are heard, and your professional aspirations are nurtured. Expect transparent communication, access to mentorship, collaborative culture, and deliberate opportunities to broaden your scope through diverse clinical experiences. You’ll join a community that prioritizes work-life harmony, recognizes your contributions, and celebrates your growth as a clinician and as a trusted caregiver. This is more than a job—it’s a platform for building a resilient, fulfilling career in physical therapy, with pathways designed to amplify your impact across patients, teams, and communities.
If you’re ready to chart a dynamic course in travel physical therapy and make a lasting difference in people’s lives, we invite you to apply. This is your chance to align with a company that values your clinical judgment, respects your time, and champions your professional development. Embrace the opportunity to practice in Sonora, California, while exploring other U.S. locations and expanding your expertise. Your dedication to movement, recovery, and well-being will be met with a supportive network, competitive compensation, and meaningful growth.
