Embark on a rewarding journey as a Sterile Processing Tech in Rochester, New York, with the opportunity to extend your reach across diverse healthcare facilities throughout the United States. In this travel-focused role, you will be the silent backbone of patient safety, transforming meticulous decontamination into sterile readiness that powers surgical teams and patient recovery. You’ll reprocess instrumentation, verify sterility, and manage meticulous records so surgeons can perform with confidence and precision. Your hands will ensure that every instrument passes exacting standards, every cycle is logged correctly, and every piece of equipment is tracked from intake through sterilization to case delivery. This work matters—each instrument you prepare supports faster, safer surgeries and contributes to better patient outcomes. Beyond the clinical impact, imagine the personal growth and professional pride that come from mastering Sterile Processing workflows across varied settings. And when you’re ready to unwind, New York State offers a tapestry of experiences—from vibrant urban culture to scenic natural beauty, inviting you to explore iconic landscapes, museums, and a rich culinary scene.
Location Benefits:
Rochester combines energetic city life with accessibility and community charm. In the Heart of Western New York, you’ll enjoy a thriving arts scene, remarkable parks, and easy access to the Finger Lakes region, where wine tasting, boating, and lakeside trails provide restorative escapes after shifts. The city’s healthcare ecosystem is robust, exposing you to a range of institutions and instrument inventories, while still fitting a travel-friendly schedule. For the adventurous, this program offers the possibility to work in multiple locations across the U.S.—expanding your professional horizons, enriching your resume, and connecting you with a network of healthcare leaders. This path provides not only competitive compensation but the flexibility to experience different hospital cultures, equipment ecosystems, and patient populations, all while maintaining a support structure designed for travel success. Across the state you’ll discover scenic drives, seasons that invite outdoor exploration, and cities that blend history with modern innovation.
Role Specifics and Benefits:
As a Sterile Processing Tech on this assignment, your core responsibilities will include decontamination of used instruments, meticulous inspection for integrity, high-level cleaning, packaging for sterilization, and verification of sterilization indicators. You’ll manage instrument tracing, sterilization cycles, load preparation, and sterile storage while ensuring compliance with industry standards (AAMI, AORN guidelines) and hospital protocol. You’ll collaborate with perioperative teams to prioritize instrument availability, respond to instrument shortages, and support OR scheduling with timely instrument turnover. The role presents a clear path for professional growth in the Sterile Processing specialty, including opportunities to deepen expertise in decontamination techniques, terminal sterilization methods, steam and low-temperature cycles, and instrument tracking systems. Competitive benefits include a sign-on bonus, housing assistance, and potential extension opportunities, giving you the chance to tailor the duration of your assignments while maintaining focus on your clinical development. You’ll have extensive support from a dedicated travel team, including 24/7 assistance while you’re on assignment, assisting with housing logistics, travel coordination, and on-site onboarding. Our program also emphasizes ongoing training, access to experienced mentors, and pathways to broader roles in supply chain management, central processing leadership, or specialty tech tracks. Note that while weekly pay is quoted within a range ($974-$1,018), hours and final compensation are subject to assignment details and location, and extensions are contingent on performance and availability. The nature of travel assignments means schedules can vary; we provide robust coordination to minimize disruption and maximize your professional experience.
