Travel Registered Nurse PCU Job

Hilo, HI
Contracted
Hilo Medical Center
Mid Level
Step into a pivotal role as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Hilo, Hawaii, starting on 01/05/2026. This is your chance to combine expert clinical care with the unique beauty and culture of one of America’s most cherished destinations. Imagine guiding patients through the delicate balance of healing and independence in a high-acuity setting, where every shift offers the chance to make meaningful differences in lives. Beyond the clinical, Hawaii’s lush landscapes, volcanic backdrops, emerald coastlines, and serene beaches offer a daily reminder of what you’re helping people regain—vitality, hope, and a sense of home. When you’re not on duty, you can explore hidden waterfalls along lush trails, take early morning surf sessions, or unwind with a sunset over Mauna Kea reflecting off a calm Pacific horizon. The state’s rich traditions, vibrant communities, and welcoming spirit create an environment where professional excellence and personal fulfillment flourish side by side.

Location benefits extend beyond the beauty of Hawaii. Hilo provides a dynamic, community-focused setting with access to tropical climate, rich culture, and affordable coastal living. For those seeking broader horizons, there is a clear pathway within our travel program to work in other locations across the U.S., delivering exposure to diverse patient populations and hospital systems. You’ll experience the advantages of a travel lifestyle without sacrificing support: the opportunity to broaden clinical expertise in different teams, standards, and patient needs, while retaining the security of a robust employer backing you every step of the way.

As a PCU RN, you’ll play a central role in patient stabilization, monitoring, and recovery. Your responsibilities will include continuous telemetry oversight, critical assessment and timely escalation of changes in patient condition, and administration of medications and IV therapies with precision and compassion. You’ll manage complex care plans for patients transitioning from ICU-level acuity to standard medical floors, coordinate closely with physicians, case managers, and ancillary staff, and contribute to meticulous discharge planning. Your clinical duties will emphasize cardiovascular monitoring, electrolyte management, pain control, wound and drain care, and the safe use of advanced monitoring technologies. You’ll educate patients and families, empower them with self-management strategies, and guide them through the often-challenging journey from acute illness to recovery at home. Professional growth opportunities abound: pursue specialized certifications, expand leadership capabilities by taking on charge nurse responsibilities, and engage in multidisciplinary quality improvement initiatives that sharpen clinical judgment and strengthen teamwork.

Competitive benefits are a cornerstone of this opportunity. You’ll be eligible for a compelling weekly pay range of $2,431 to $2,536, reflecting your experience and skill level, with a structure designed to reward performance and commitment. We offer a sign-on style component and housing assistance to help you settle into your new environment with ease. There are clear extension opportunities within the program, enabling you to continue building enduring professional relationships and refining your practice in a trusted setting. In travel roles, you’re supported by a dedicated team that delivers 24/7 assistance, ensuring seamless logistics, timely problem solving, and continuous professional support as you move between assignments or locations. The combination of clinical challenge and organizational backing creates a framework where excellent patient care and your career trajectory advance hand in hand.

Our company values an empowering, people-centered approach to staffing. We are committed to fostering your professional development, recognizing your expertise, and creating a supportive work environment where collaboration, learning, and compassionate care thrive. We invest in people, not just positions, and you’ll feel the difference in every interaction—from orientation to ongoing mentorship, performance feedback, and opportunities to lead quality improvement efforts. We believe in honoring your contributions and building lasting relationships that extend beyond a single assignment. You will find a culture that respects your voice, supports your growth, and celebrates the impact you make on patients, families, and communities.

Ready to embark on this journey? Apply now to join a team that values your clinical excellence, respects your professional development, and supports your ambitions across Hawaii and beyond. This is more than a job; it’s a doorway to meaningful, lasting impact in compassionate, innovative care.
