Travel Registered Nurse PACU Job
Hilo, HI
Contracted
Hilo Medical Center
Mid Level
Step into a dynamic Travel Nursing opportunity as a Registered Nurse specializing in PACU, launching on 04/27/2026 in the inviting island community of Hilo, Hawaii. Imagine guiding patients through one of the most pivotal moments of their surgical journey: the transition from anesthesia to conscious recovery, from stabilization to safe discharge. As a PACU RN, your skill, compassion, and clinical judgment will directly influence comfort, safety, and outcomes for diverse surgical populations. You’ll work with a collaborative team of surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative professionals who share your commitment to excellence. This is more than a job—it’s a chance to impact lives while embracing a unique, immersive experience in a place where natural beauty and human connection converge. And while Hawaii offers the serenity of oceanfront mornings, the vibrant energy of Hilo’s markets, and endless opportunities for exploration—think lush rainforests, cascading waterfalls, and volcanic landscapes—the state also invites you to savor sunrise snorkels, whale watching, and exceptionally warm island hospitality. In this role, you’ll have the chance to bring expert PACU care to patients on a schedule that respects your life while delivering meaningful clinical outcomes.
Location Benefits: Working in Hilo places you at the gateway to some of Hawaii’s most breathtaking scenery and authentic cultural experiences. You’ll enjoy a tropical climate that makes every day feel like a gentle invitation to step outside—whether you’re strolling through Liliuokalani Gardens, exploring the Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden, or taking a short drive to nearby state parks and volcanic vistas. Hilo’s slower pace pairs wonderfully with the focused, high-stakes environment of PACU care, offering balance and a sense of community that supports professional longevity. Beyond the island, this travel role also provides the opportunity to work in various locations across the U.S., expanding your clinical exposure, expanding your professional network, and enriching your career with diverse patient populations and healthcare settings. You’ll benefit from robust housing assistance, travel logistics support, and access to a team that treats every assignment as an opportunity to learn, adapt, and innovate—while you enjoy local culture, stunning beaches, and seasonal opportunities to participate in outdoor adventures.
Role Specifics and Benefits: As a PACU RN, you’ll assess and monitor post-anesthesia patients, vigilantly observing airway status, breathing, circulation, pain control, and neurological recovery. You’ll titrate analgesia and antiemetics as ordered, manage airway adjuncts when needed, and ensure patients meet discharge criteria with clear, patient-centered education for families. Your responsibilities include accurate vital sign interpretation, prompt recognition of complications, and seamless handoffs to inpatient units or discharge teams. You’ll document progress and plan, coordinate with surgeons and anesthesia teams, and contribute to process improvements that enhance safety and throughput in the perioperative continuum. This role supports professional growth through exposure to varied surgical specialties, leadership opportunities in PACU rounds, and mentorship from seasoned perioperative clinicians. In addition to competitive compensation, you’ll receive a potential signing bonus and housing assistance designed to ease transition and relocation. We offer extension opportunities for continued assignment continuity and the chance to deepen expertise across multiple facilities, environments, and patient populations. We know travel can be demanding, so we provide 24/7 support while you’re traveling with the company, ensuring resources, updates, and assistance are always within reach. The weekly pay range for this assignment is $1,877-$1,975, reflecting a comprehensive benefits package designed to reward your specialized skills and dedication. While the stated pay is a strong baseline, final compensation packages will be confirmed during the hiring process, with details tailored to your credentials and the specific facility. Duration and schedule are designed to align with unit needs and patient volumes, providing meaningful hours and opportunities to maximize your clinical impact. Please note: The hours and pay rates listed are estimates and may vary. Final compensation packages and guaranteed hours will be confirmed during the hiring process.
Company Values: Our partner organizations are built on empowering their nursing teams to grow into stronger clinicians and leaders. You’ll join a culture that prioritizes professional development, supportive peer networks, and open, respectful communication. Our commitment to a positive, collaborative work environment means you’ll have access to ongoing education, mentorship, and opportunities to advance within perioperative services or cross-train into related specialties. You’ll experience a solutions-focused approach to staffing that emphasizes well-being, fair scheduling, and recognition of your expertise. We believe in elevating nurses—not just for today’s assignments, but for long-term career trajectories that align with your personal and professional goals.
