Role specifics and benefits: In Med Surg, you’ll deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients, balancing acute needs with gradual recovery goals. Your responsibilities will center on providing high-quality, evidence-based care, coordinating with physicians, PAs, therapists, and support staff to optimize outcomes, and guiding patients and families through education and discharge planning. Key responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, monitor vitals, and interpret clinical changes promptly
- Administer medications and IV therapies with accuracy and safety
- Implement and adjust care plans in collaboration with the health care team
- Manage wound care, post-operative recovery, catheterizations, and other Med Surg needs
- Respond to patient crises, uphold patient safety, and enforce infection control protocols
- Document clearly and timely in the EMR; ensure continuity of care across shifts
- Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and discharge instructions
- Assist with care coordination, including referrals and transitions of care
- Support unit operations and participate in quality improvement initiatives
- Help mentor new staff and contribute to a positive, learning-centered environment
