- Key responsibilities: Prepare and maintain the sterile field; set up and organize instruments and supplies for all scheduled procedures; assist surgeons and scrub nurses during operations; monitor patient status intraoperatively, accounting for hemodynamic changes, medication administration, and anesthesia collaboration; ensure correct counts of sponges, instruments, and devices; implement safety protocols, infection prevention, and regulatory compliance; accurately document intraoperative events, specimens, and patient progress; participate in prompt patient handoffs to PACU with comprehensive briefings; contribute to preoperative assessments and postoperative instructions for patients and families; engage in continuous quality improvement discussions and OR efficiency initiatives.
