Travel Registered Nurse ER Job

Calais, ME
Contracted
Calais Community Hospital
Mid Level
Answer the call to care as a traveling Registered Nurse specializing in Emergency Medicine in Calais, Maine. This ER assignment invites you to blend fast-paced clinical excellence with the charm of a coastal New England town, where every shift is an opportunity to impact lives and our communities. In Calais you’ll work at the front lines of acute care, stabilizing patients, supporting families, and collaborating with a seasoned ED team. The work is demanding, rewarding, and designed to elevate your clinical confidence as you respond to diverse emergencies. You’ll also have the chance to explore Downeast Maine’s rugged beauty during time off—from lighthouse trails to scenic bays, from seafood shacks to autumn fairs. The start date is 03/02/2026, a weeks-long assignment that offers the flexibility you need and an environment that values your expertise even as you travel.

Calais sits at the edge of Penobscot Bay, with easy access to surrounding communities and the wider Downeast region. Working here provides a prime introduction to rural ED medicine, with strong local networks, supportive leaders, and opportunities to broaden your practice in a calm but capable setting. If you’re drawn to variety, this role can also place you in other Maine locations or broader U.S. assignments, giving you the chance to experience different patient populations, hospital cultures, and seasonal rhythms across the country. You’ll discover how small-town warmth pairs with professional camaraderie, and you’ll enjoy the benefits of a community that values accessible healthcare and the well-being of its caregivers.

As an ER RN in this role, you will triage, assess, and stabilize patients across a broad range of emergencies, from trauma to medical crises. You’ll perform rapid assessments, start IVs, administer medications, assist with imaging, and document interventions in the electronic health record. You’ll coordinate with physicians, PAs, techs, and case managers to prioritize care and ensure timely disposition. You will provide patient and family education, advocate for safety, and participate in quality improvement initiatives. This environment emphasizes critical thinking, adaptability, and bedside leadership, and you’ll have access to mentoring and ongoing skill-building opportunities such as ACLS, PALS refreshers, and specialty certifications. Our travel program supports you with a competitive compensation package featuring a weekly pay range of $1,965 to $2,033, and housing assistance to reduce relocation stress. While guaranteed hours aren’t set, you’ll have the flexibility to extend your assignment and explore additional shifts or different facilities as your career goals evolve. The company provides 24/7 support while you travel with us, including clinical support hotlines, travel coordination, and on-call clinical resources to resolve situations quickly and keep you safe on the road.

Beyond the technical demands, this opportunity mirrors our commitment to professional growth. You’ll operate within a culture that prizes continuous learning, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and the pursuit of excellence in patient-centered care. Expect structured onboarding that accelerates your integration into the ED team, regular opportunities to expand your scope, and pathways to leadership roles or specialized practice areas as you gain experience. When you’re ready for the next chapter, you’ll find a partner in us—an organization that champions your ambition, provides comprehensive resources, and supports you as you build a resilient nursing career across Maine and beyond.

We believe in empowering our clinicians to shape their own career trajectories while delivering compassionate, safe, high-quality care every day. Expect a supportive work environment that respects your expertise, encourages initiative, and values open communication. With a focus on stability, mentorship, and professional development, we strive to create teams where nurses feel seen, heard, and prepared to advance. We recognize that travel nursing is about more than assignments—it’s about growth, connection, and the freedom to pursue clinical excellence in communities you love. Calais is just the beginning; the broader network offers exposure to diverse settings, patient populations, and clinical challenges that will sharpen your skills and deepen your impact.
