Travel Registered Nurse L&D Job
Utica, NY
Contracted
MVHS Wynn Hospital
Mid Level
Embark on a transformative journey as a Travel Registered Nurse specializing in Labor and Delivery, beginning 03/30/2026 in Utica, New York. This role centers on guiding families through one of life’s most meaningful moments while you expand your expertise within a network that values safety, compassion, and clinical excellence. In addition to the enriching work in Utica, our program offers opportunities to practice in diverse settings across the United States, so you can experience the country’s varied healthcare landscapes and communities, building a robust professional portfolio while making a lasting impact on the families you support.
Utica’s Mohawk Valley setting blends approachable city amenities with scenic countryside, offering a workspace that’s both practical and inspiring. Expect a community that supports healthcare professionals with strong hospital networks, ongoing education, and family-friendly neighborhoods. The region’s cultural offerings—local theaters, festivals, farmers markets, and nearby outdoor adventures—provide welcoming breaks between shifts. And because the state of New York holds a tapestry of landscapes, you’ll have opportunities to explore upstate beauty during rotations or weekends, from tranquil river trails to majestic Adirondack views. This program also affords the flexibility to travel to other locations across the U.S., letting you experience a spectrum of hospital cultures, patient populations, and obstetric practices that will elevate your clinical judgment and interpersonal skills.
Role specifics and benefits:
- Key responsibilities and clinical impact: As a Labor and Delivery RN, you’ll provide comprehensive maternity care across labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum phases. You’ll monitor fetal heart rates, assess labor progress, support natural births and cesarean sections, coordinate anesthesia with anesthesia teams, prepare and assist during procedures, manage postpartum stabilization, perform newborn assessments, and deliver lactation support and parent education. You’ll collaborate closely with obstetricians, midwives, neonatal teams, and support staff to ensure safe, respectful, patient-centered care. Documentation, infection control, and adherence to evidence-based protocols will be central, with a focus on family-centered care, cultural sensitivity, and rapid response to evolving clinical situations. The role invites continued professional growth through exposure to high-risk cases, simulations, and opportunities to expand expertise in perinatal care, neonatal resuscitation, and lactation consulting.
- Professional growth and extension opportunities: Our program is designed to advance your career within the L&D specialty. You’ll have access to structured mentorship, ongoing education stipends, specialty certifications, and leadership pathways that recognize clinical excellence and teamwork. As assignments progress, there are opportunities to extend engagements, rotate to additional facilities, or transition into permanent roles within our supportive network. We encourage nurses who demonstrate initiative and compassion to pursue broader responsibilities, from unit education coordination to quality improvement initiatives that impact patient outcomes.
- Competitive benefits and financial support: You’ll receive a competitive weekly pay range of 2,160 to 2,296 dollars, reflecting experience and assignment specifics. We offer housing assistance to reduce relocation friction and a range of supplemental benefits designed to support your comfort and stability on assignment. In addition to competitive compensation, you may qualify for bonuses, completion incentives, and extension options that align with your professional goals. Your guaranteed hours are set at 36.0 per week, with the potential for additional hours based on facility needs and traveler availability.
- Comprehensive support and travel wellness: You’ll be backed by a dedicated support team offering 24/7 assistance as you travel with the company. From credentialing and onboarding to shift coverage and safety resources, you’ll never navigate a challenge alone. Our travel coordinators, clinical supervisors, and HR professionals are committed to ensuring smooth transitions between assignments, timely payroll, and access to wellness resources that help sustain your energy and focus.
