Travel Registered Nurse CCU Job
Kealakekua, HI
Contracted
Kona Community Hospital
Mid Level
Step into a pivotal role as a Registered Nurse specializing in Critical Care (CCU) in the sun-kissed paradise of Kealakekua, Hawaii. This opportunity blends the challenge of advanced critical care with the serenity and culture of island living, inviting you to make a meaningful impact on patients and families during moments that matter most. In CCU, you’ll lead complex care plans, interpret intricate hemodynamics, coordinate with a high-performing team, and advocate for patients as they navigate critical illness. This is your chance to elevate your clinical expertise while embracing a rewarding lifestyle that values balance, resilience, and compassion. Beyond the hospital walls, you’ll discover the beauty of Hawaii—from lush landscapes to pristine coastlines—creating memorable experiences that complement your professional journey. And if you crave variety, the program provides the opportunity to work across multiple locations in the U.S., expanding your professional horizons while maintaining the core support and culture you value.
Kealakekua offers a unique backdrop for nursing excellence. Working here means immersion in a community that appreciates meticulous care, teamwork, and the extraordinary resilience of the CCU patient population. The island setting provides a slower pace that honors well-being, yet the unit remains fast-paced and technically demanding, delivering opportunities to refine advanced life support skills, critical decision making, and rapid collaboration with physicians, respiratory therapists, and ancillary teams. The appeal extends beyond clinical duties: you’ll have access to comprehensive relocation and housing assistance, allowing you to settle comfortably while you focus on patient care. For those drawn to geographic breadth, you can complement your Hawaii experience with assignments in other U.S. locations, building a diverse portfolio of practice settings, patient populations, and clinical challenges. This is a chance to grow your professional identity while enjoying a supportive environment that recognizes your dedication and contributions.
In this CCU role, you’ll be at the heart of critical patient management. Core responsibilities include continuous monitoring of complex cardiac, respiratory, and hemodynamic status; initiating and adjusting advanced therapies such as vasoactive infusions, ventilator management, and post-operative care for high-acuity surgical cases. You’ll participate in multidisciplinary rounds, develop and execute care plans, and lead evidence-based interventions that optimize outcomes. You’ll mentor newly onboarded staff, share best practices, and pursue opportunities for certification and specialization that align with your career goals. The position offers pathways for professional growth, whether you’re aiming to deepen expertise in CCU management, prepare for leadership roles, or pursue education credits that support ongoing competency. Competitive benefits accompany the role, including a sign-on/contract bonus, robust housing assistance, and the possibility of contract extensions based on unit needs and your performance. You’ll also benefit from a structured support system: a dedicated travel coordinator, 24/7 clinical and logistical support, and a patient-centered culture that prioritizes safety, empathy, and professional development. Weekly compensation is $2,529-$2,612, with the understanding that hours are contract-based and may vary with patient census and assignment length. Start date is 01/12/2026, with the duration reflected in weeks according to the facility’s needs and your availability. While the stated weekly pay and hours are estimates, final compensation will be confirmed during the hiring process, and extension opportunities will be discussed at contract milestones.
Our company is driven by values that empower you to advance your career while maintaining a supportive, collaborative work environment. We invest in your growth through access to continuing education, specialty certifications, and leadership development programs designed to unlock your potential. You will join a culture that celebrates teamwork, accountability, and compassionate care, where your voice informs patient care strategies and unit dynamics. Whether you’re drawn to deepening clinical mastery, building cross-functional relationships, or shaping policy-driven improvements in critical care, you’ll find a workplace that respects your expertise and rewards your dedication with meaningful opportunities.
If you’re ready to make a lasting impact in CCU nursing, to experience Hawaii’s unique blend of beauty and purpose, and to grow within a nationally recognized support network, we want to hear from you. Apply today to join a company that champions your professional journey, offers competitive compensation, housing support, potential extensions, and round-the-clock assistance as you travel and advance in your CCU career.
